He ate what he wanted, lost 125 pounds: "It all comes down to calories."

I have successfully lost weight in the past and Tyler Weeks rules of thumb really struck a cord with me:

1. He lost 2.4 pounds per week. That translates to a caloric deficit of 1600 calories per day which is a little higher than I have seen recommended. But he still should have been able to eat around 1600 calories per day. On January 15, 2009, he weighed 344.2 pounds. On December 30, he was down to 218.8 pounds.

2. Instead of trying some fad or diet gimmick, he decided to change his lifestyle, to count calories and to became more active.

3. He only weighed himself once a week.

4. He ate the foods he loves.

5. He started to paying more attention to sodium and fat and other items on nutritional labels. He also drank more water and selected more vegetables and lean meats.

6. He found fun physical activity which consisted of playing basketball.

7. He found a few people to report his calories and food stories to to keep him honest.

In my opinion, food is an addiction and the same techniques that addicts use to control the cravings were the things I needed to do to control my weight:

--Watch out for relapse triggering events like conflicts or substances like alcohol that can lower one's resistance.

--Realize that the cravings will never go away completely.

--Build a support system and beware of enablers and other addicts.

--Keeping a diary or journal can help track and focus one's thoughts.

--Pharmacotherapy can assist weight loss but often there is a rebound after the drug is discontinued. http://www.mdconsult.com/das/article/body/177836903-2/j...

1. That's basically what I did.

I used Sparkpeople to track my food.

http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/loginpage.asp

I eat everything I like, but with some modifications. If I'm hungry for french fries, I bake them. If I want pizza, I buy Totino's, break it in half, that's one serving, and doctor it up. If I bought any other kind, I wouldn't stop at one serving.

At Subway, I have no cheese or dressing.

Lots of little things add up.

I've lost 108# I started in March of 2008. Set my goal for Jan. 20 2009. Hit my goal on Feb. 7th.

Well, that's all good, and one congratulates the gamma primitive.

But the gamma primitive's a little different from the gigantic primitive, who has been silent lately; to the gigantic primitive a whole Totino's pizza would be just a little itty-bitty appetizer to warm up the taste buds for some serious heavy-duty chomping.
apres moi, le deluge

I'm on the Obama diet. I can't afford to eat in his lousy economy.  :-)
I may not lock my doors while sitting at a red light and a black man is near, but I sure as hell grab on tight to my wallet when any democrats are close by.

It is what everyone here tried to tell Jennette...it is caloric intake vs calories burned and short of an actual physical disorder Kirk probably wasn`t being honest to her about what he was eating.
Nor was she being honest with herself.
Hopefully there will be a reports soon that he has lost several pounds,is getting closer to being in the 300s and can actually start to look for some productive way to spend his time and better society (a job).

After the Jeanette sock puppet, I'm beginning to believe she doesn't exist. Except, maybe Joe dresses up in drag once in a while.

She may exist. There's no telling what desperate unbalanced people will do.
But the probability that she's the one who posted here is zero.

Damn.

I was really super hoping to read an update about the gigantic primitive. I've wondered how his fat fingers can fit on these tiny little keys. Maybe he holds pencils in his chubby paws and uses the eraser end to hit the keyboard with.....hmmm, I wonder if he has a chaffing problem between his digits....

Won`t go there really but still feel so bad for a lady that will allow herself for whatever reasons to endure what she has. :(

Wait a second..if the gigantic primitive is really that fat, why doesn't he join a carnival freak show? He'd get out of the house, be gainfully employed and he could keep stuffing himself one mouthful at a time that much closer to the grave.

I'm with Mr. Bucks on this one. All DU'ers lie, therefore Jeanette is most likely gigantors pet dog or helper monkey.

There are pics of both and if this violates a rule please let me know or just delete.
It is them though.

If it was her that was here she was very civil and pleasant so please return that.

That first post by the DUmmy sounds like the guy was on Weight Watchers. Nothing too profound about that.
