White House caught in Democrats' crossfire
« on: January 22, 2010, 10:12:27 AM »

Congressional Democrats — stunned out of silence by Scott Brown’s victory in Massachusetts — say they’re done swallowing their anger with President Barack Obama and ready to go public with their gripes.

If the sentiment isn’t quite heads-must-roll, it’s getting there.

Hill Democrats are demanding that Obama’s brain trust — especially senior adviser David Axelrod and chief of staff Rahm Emanuel — shelve their grand legislative ambitions to focus on the economic issues that will determine the fates of shaky Democratic majorities in both houses.

And they want the White House to step up — quickly — to help shape the party’s message and steer it through the wreckage of health care reform.

“The administration has got to be in the forefront now, instead of throwing some meat on the track and seeing what the House can work out,” said New Jersey Rep. Bill Pascrell, expressing the frustrations also voiced by about two dozen Democratic elected officials and aides interviewed by POLITICO.

“I haven’t seen Rahm Emanuel except on television. We used to see him a lot; I’d like him to come out from behind his desk and meet with the common folk,” added Pascrell.

“What happened was they got so caught up in all these other issues like health care and cap and trade and all this other stuff, that because of that they maybe didn’t put enough focus on the economy,” said Minnesota Rep. Collin Peterson, a moderate who represents a conservative, rural district hard-hit by the economic crisis.

The White House would not comment for this story.

Of course not--they don't feel they need to.  Their agenda is the one we need, they're the smartest people in the room, and anyone that disagrees is a racist teabagger.

And it's that very attitude they need to keep until November.

O perhaps is thinking at this point his best chance for 2nd term survival is to throw dem Senators and Reps under the bus.
Lets him play Clinton and go back into campaign mode for real.

I wouldn`t feel too comfortable on the hill right now.

Thing is, neighbor, that the Obamessiah's ego won't let him move to the center.  Remember, they know what "our best interests" are.  So, they will tell us exactly what "our best interests" are--and that we should vote for them, because of that.

I dunno.

With ObamaCare largely in the shitter now, and Cap 'n Trade stalled in the Senate, what else do Axelrod and Emanuel have to do? (Besides stroke Lord Zero's shattered ego.) If LZ can stop making apology tours and taking vacations, he just might be willing to listen to some of the moonbats in the Congress and get out there to communicate his message.

He's already 'fessed up that he was too busy making "policy" to talk to the American people, thinking they "got it" when they really didn't (how arrogant is THAT little statement, peeps?), so he'll sigh a big sigh, roll up his sleeves, take off his tie, and give us iPhone chats from Camp David.

He'd do it slowly, of course, since he (LZ) never does anything quickly unless it's to his political benefit, but I can see the administration paying some attention to those fellow moonbats.

I think his State of the Union address on Wednesday night is going to make for fascinating people watching.

Is he going to take responsibility for the last year? Or is he going to blame it on the Congress? The GOP? The public...for just not getting "it"? Is he going to make excuses and blame in on Bush ...yet again?

Nothing has come to fruition that he "promised" on the campaign trail. Has any president failed so miserably in the last 50 years in such a short time?

How can he and his buddies Rahm and David possibly sping this to look good?

Whatever he does...the Republicans should be having smirks on their faces....and the Dems will either be in various states of panic, anger, or false cheer.

Should be an interesting hour.

It's been a year.  People want problems fixed, not blame fixed.  The more/longer he blames Bush, the faster he'll sink, particularly if the "double-dip" recession comes into play later this year.

I've been noticing the last couple of weeks....that even some of the left-leaning pundits on Fox are starting to comment on the continued blame on Bush.

At some point in time....Obama needs to just suck it up and stop blaming Bush. Even if he doesn't admit his part of blame....he needs to quit with the Bush-bashing.

The longer Obama - and his MB of I's -continue to blame Bush....the more it accentuates their failures.

Their childish act of "Teacher, Johnny did it...not me!" is/has worn thin and the People who had accepted it as Gospel...are just not accepting that excuse any more.

The percentage of dis-believers is increasing daily.

He will allude to everything being Bushs fault without saying it.
The rest will be grandiose sloganeering with empty promises thrown in.

I may be wrong but I doubt he will take much of a hard position on anything.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

Brings up an interesting question - at least to me. Many people don't like the idea of a 3rd party, but I wonder what the chances are of a good number of Dems splitting off into a new party... call it the ACORN party.

I was thinking more of an "official" party and in a much larger mass of sitting senators/reps.
