Windy Sunday
« on: March 09, 2008, 07:50:32 AM »
Rain stopped last night, but the flooding continues.  Fortunately I live near the top of the hill.  Unfortunately, the runoff goes through my backyard, onto the driveway, and pretty much stops because the snow has dammed it all up.  Plus it's getting down into the teens tonight, so my driveway will be solid ice by morning.

Now it's blowing like a bastard.  30 mph winds with gusts to 40.  I'm watching the trees in my yard blow around like blades of grass.  I lost two trees last year this way during a Nor'easter in April.  Here's what it looked like:

This one was the second tree to go.  It snapped and fell over nearly on top of the fire truck.

Yep--those are power lines.  And people STILL drove underneath that.

Spring can't come quickly enough.  Come on, mud season!

TOTD: Now that you didn't win the Powerball, how much of a raise would you ask for if you could?

Cold this morning in WV, but no snow or rain.  The weather geeks say it is supposed to warm up to the mid 40's today, so we'll see.

My youngest made our family 5 for 5 yesterday at being near sided and needing glasses.  We will be going out later to choose some frames.  He's big into sports, so I need something that looks good, but will be rugged enough to hold up to him!

TOTD:  I wouldn't care if I got a raise, but I'd love someone to pay for all my daughter's dance crap!  I'm sure I'd be rich if it weren't for that!!

I dunno.

I woke up this morning with a bad cold; the sneezes.

I'm not known to be allergic to any substance other than cyanide, but sometimes I wonder if perhaps I might be allergic to something microscopic in the air here.

So I'm headed back to bed.

By the way, no one won the Powerball last night.

It's up to "$230,000,000," which in real life translates into circa $71,000,000.

I've never been sure how the Powerball people get away with false advertising.

However, I'm sure no one would turn down $71,000,000.

But it shouldn't be advertised what it isn't.

Cold and rainy here with more storms to come apparently. It is no weather to be going out in, so I shall just chill out at home.

It is cool, sunny, and very pleasant here at Undies Castle.  No wind to speak of.  I hobbled out to get yesterday's mail.  The morning is very refreshing.

An odd cat meowed at me.  I said good morning.  He flipped around and raised his tail.  I hobbled back into the house.

The rest of last night's dinner is in the oven for breakfast.  It's bright and sunny here, but a little bit cold.

It's sunny and 56 outside.  Still a bit of chill to the air, well at least that's my excuse to not do yardwork today.  :)

TOTD:  I just got a raise last month, but more money doesn't hurt.  If I could get it, I'd ask for a few dollars more (I'm hourly), but alas it won't be until next February till I get another raise.

Move east.  It's 60 at my place. :)

A raise never hurts, but they are never enough.  Read up on Mrs. Fields and her cookies.  It will be an inspiration.

TOTD: raise? I'll think about that when I've actually been working for a while.  :-) I'm still studying right now but I think I'm going to pick up something part time again soon

It's cold today, but sunny so we have some melt on the roads, but piles and piles of snow everywhere...people are out having fun and enjoying a once a decade snow fall. I've already worked out today and am about to get on with the business of the day.

Have a good day folks.

Weather is absolutely PERFECT in Savannah right now.  Sunny, 70 degrees F, and a breeze.   :-)

Okay, just got off work, and I'm tired.  Time to just sit down, relax, and have a Coke.

But for some reason, having sat down, I'm restless again.   :mental:

TOTD:  Well, given I just started my job, it won't be until July when they evaluate me for a raise, so I need to really work hard.  Besides, they're going to start training me as a cashier soon, so I may get a raise before then.  How much?  probably a dollar or 2 more per hour.  It's not like I'll be working this job forever.  I'll get my degree in a couple of years, get  certified, and find a job somewhere here in the South.

It's 7:00 and it's still light outside.  DST rocks.   :p

(I don't like driving at night)

Same here, especially if it's raining.   I try to avoid driving in the rain or at night at all, but when it's both, it is so much worse. :(

When I moved to NC and switched time zones, I couldn't believe it.  Some weeks, the sun didn't go down until 9:00.  It was nice.
