MLK Monday
« on: January 18, 2010, 01:01:39 AM »
Was so bored (or tired--body hasn't adjusted yet) that I fell asleep about 5 this afternoon.  Failed open at 1 am, can't get back to sleep.

Just as well, the snow is coming down pretty hard here and I'll have to start blowing it out about 3:30-4 am in order to get to work on time--yes, I get to work today, racist company I work for not recognizing MLK Day.  Already at least 5-6 inches on the ground, forecast calling for another 4-6 more by the afternoon.

Coffee will be my friend until 4 this afternoon.  After that, who knows?

ETA:  I'm in the "ed" of Isolated.  Yahoo...

Another foggy morning with no sunshine predicted.  At least we've had several days above freezing and most of the snow is gone.

Sun is trying to break through, with a predicted high of 50!

Everyone has the day off here, except for the girl child who has dance at 2:30...her director figured everyone had off from school, what a great time for extra rehearsal time!  Of course, she let everyone know last night at 6 about the change in schedule.  :hammer:

Not exciting plans today, although since it's warmer, I might take the boys out and play catch...start warming their arms up for baseball season!

Today we are supposed to be upper 60's, and then tomorrow low 70's, and then rain and colder at the end of the week.  I just know this isn't the last of the winter, and I hate this up and down, because it confuses the plants, and gets my equilibrium out of whack.  And here I was getting ready for winter.

Oh yeah.  Geaux Saints!

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

I have to go, yet again, to the VFW. The cleanup crew for the minor flooding we had will be there, as well as the estimator. In the interim, "The Invaders", an old 60s sci-fi show is on the SyFy channel...... :) I hope that the SyFy channel continues this trend.

I doubt it.  SyFy likes to come up with original yet crappy progamming.

Be willing to bet you'll see "Avatar the series" by September.

Am I the only one who thinks that movie is just a supped up version of the smurfs?

True, but reruns from the 60s are cool. I was just talking about that a couple of weeks ago. Lost in Space, The Invaders, etc. How many times can one watch SG1, SG Atlantis, etc without burning out on them (I like both of those shows, immensely) They could sure lose those stupid assed Ghost Hunters and the like.

I've never seen these ****in "hunters" ever catch a ghost.  That show is more fiction than science.

I like the old scifi shows but SyFy goes back and forth between them, their lousy original progamming, and reruns of Seaquest.

Going to be in the uppper 50's today, the sun has finally burned off the wicked fog we had this morning.

I'm dragging the other half with me to the projects....on MLK Day....to do an interior shoot. He's thrilled.  :uhsure:

Meeting up with another client to get some paperwork done for extending her listings....tough to get occupied rentals sold - even when the prices are low - in "difficult" areas of town.

Looking out from my office window at the horse farm that's up beyond the road behind us....their grass has greened up in the last few days. All the rain Saturday, yesterday and last night...plus the warmer temperatures will be enough to mess with the plants. Since it's going to be "warm" all week....the temps will probably bring up the daffodils...so they can bloom and show their happy sunny heads...and get sleet/snow/ice on them... :bawl:
Just hand over the chocolate...back away slowly...far away....and you won't get hurt....

Save the Earth... it's the only planet with chocolate.

I'm bummed I missed BSG: The Plan when it was on this month and it's not on Comcast On Demand.  Hopefully, SyFy will rerun it . . .

Cloudy today but it's supposed to hit 50.  Traffic light due to the holiday; husband and son home together today -- hope there's no blood spilled!  Lately the 2 of them have been butting heads non-stop!

It's in the mid-30s here now, and there was 2" or so of new, wet snow this morning.  Most of it is melting.  But, I just saw on FNC a blurb about the storms hitting California now.  6" of rain.  In the Sierra Nevadas, at least 24"+ of snow.  That'll be here by the end of the week.
