Ever since the Coalkey-Brown race started getting tight, and started getting national attention, I've seen quite a lot of people on this board who are barely able to hide their glee at the prospect of a Democratic defeat.

"That'll show 'em!"..."'em" being the DLC, Obama, the Democrats in general, or whatever.

It'll help kill the health care bill if Brown wins!

This is just the taste of what the Dems can expect in November!

The smile behind these kinds of comments is impossible to miss, but I've noticed something else.

Not one - NOT ONE - of the posters I've seen reveling in an imminent Democratic defeat IS FROM MASSACHUSETTS.

I am.

I have not written anything about this particular race, but if I choose to, I will. The outcomes of various races are not determined on discussion boards - who has said this in the past...oh, yeah...

 Then, sometime in 2003, Pitt wrote this post... I dunno, it was like any other I thought, and I read it, because that's what you do.

Suddenly I felt this warm glow envelop me. I felt myself lifted two inches off my seat. My mouth filled with the taste of cooked peas.

Anyhow, from that point forward I found myself physically unable to post anything that disagreed with him. Whenever I tried, it felt like a nightstick was between my shoulder blades. Weird.

So, good luck I guess is what I'm saying.

 And frankly, it was so ****ed up then (70's, 80's, 90's) that it's unlikely that it can or will get any worse. The so-called Health care bill, however, should go down in the flames it has so richly earned. We could do much better if Obama had this little reality check from the grassroots. Now Ralph, in fairness, looking at the time of the post, the sun had crossed the yardarm meaning Wee Willie has probably had a snifter or two ( or maybe twenty-two ) of Uncle Louie's social lubricant while waiting for the game to start down at Bukowski's.  

Looks like the Coakley / Brown commercials will be running during the Saints Game but at least I don't have to put up with the calls.
