Earlier today, I posted a campfire taken from Skins's island, "primitives bake bread," and took the tushie primitive to task for not figuring out how to use non-bread-loaf pans for making shorter loaves of bread.
The tushie primitive apparently thinks something must be called "bread loaf" pan to work for bread, when in fact just about any oven glassware pan would work just as well.
It's like the primitives think they need to have both cookie sheets and pizza pans, to make cookies and pizza.....when in fact only one (it doesn't make any difference which one) of these is necessary, for both pizza and cookies.
Anyway, the tushie primitive:

So I wrote to King Arthur Flour and I asked "Are there full sized loaf pans that are half as long?"
and I got back this... (I love these guys!)
"Dear Fellow Baker,
Thank you for writing. No we do not have any full size pans that are half as long. But look at the technique used in this blog. You may be able to use it-basically baking two loaves in one pan. you can then freeze half.

I hope this information will be helpful. Please email again if we can be of further assistance.
Happy Baking,

1. That looks really good, tesha!
The loaf pans I have are 9 x 5 inches long. Way too long. I've been meaning to pick up a couple of 8 x4's. Even an inch makes so much difference.
Now franksolich has another question.
WHAT DIFFERENCE does it make, if a loaf is 8" long or 4" long or 22" long?
It's only bread, after all.
