I had to watch this health mess we have further destroy my youngest son's life today...

He is a good man. He worked hard but was downsized.

He has sold almost everything he owns to keep up his DOUBLE child support payments..on his child whom he was never told about until after she was almost nine years old..and so he had to make double payments.

He made the payments but the family had to step in to give him a place to live so he could make such big payments (he no longer had that high paying job by then).....and the mom took his daughter so far away to live before he had a chance to stop her that he cannot even see her.

He was happy to have a daughter. He wept with joy when he found out he had a child and he tried hard to be all he could for her.

The state is also now after his driver's license because he can no longer keep up his child support.

He has a chance to get it lowered a little but not for another 6 months.

Who the hell came up with that idea should be beaten twice a day in the town square.

How can parents find jobs or get to work if they take their driver's licenses? Doesn't that make it even harder in an already tough time?

Now today he got a bill from the hospital emergency ward. A week or so ago he was in major pain so I took him to the emergency ward..he was passing out from the shock of the pain when we got there in the nick of time..but todays bill almost made him pass out again.

$4,000.00 for a scan, some glucose and a prescription. The doctor was with him for less than ten minutes.

He had a large kidney stone passing...and two more that could pass at any time..(or not..is a wait and see thing).

He is doing everything he should be doing.

Looking for work every day...there are no jobs here. Still he is pounding the pavement, selling everything he owns.

Decent and law abiding Americans that work hard and try to do the right thing shouldn't be kicked in the teeth over and over again by this system we have.

I had to turn away because I couldn't bear to see the look on his face or feel his pain and despair. I am keeping a close eye on him..I hope he doesnt do anything desperate. He just seemed so broken and I have never seen him like this.

It's just not right for someone as decent as he is and who tries so damned hard to do the right thing to have to go through this.

Where the hell are the jobs?

Where the hell is a decent health care for Americans?

I cannot help him on my widow's pension...this breaks my heart.

Well, those seem like good questions to ask il Duce Bo; where's the jobs?

il Duce Bo's been around for a while, and should've taken care of it by now.

1. I wish I had some good words of comfort, or advice...

How horrifying.

All my best to him, and you, during this time of trial...

How about instead of nice words, opening up the checkbook, C-Peg?

4. I've watched similar suffering with one of my sons when he was outside of Alaska in Seattle.

Here's the irony. My son is 1/4 Alaska Native (Inupiat/Inuit). In Seattle he is uninsured like everybody else in his financial situation. Inside Alaska, all his medical coverage is free--all of it--from band-aid to heart surgery--free.

We have socialized medicine in this country. It works well. But it only goes to a select few.

My wife, who is 1/2 Inupiat, makes all of her medical decisions based on her health. When I make a medical decision, there is a huge economic component. We both have bronchitis and pneumonia right now--latent effects of bouts with H1N1. She is on antibiotics and an inhaler, because her care is free. My doctor charges $300 for an office visit, so I'm just taking over-the-counter medications.

I hope your son makes it through this mess. I hope the nation makes it through this mess.

We got three more years to go, before making it through this mess.

Woman doesn't tell him about the kid until she needs money. I bet it happens all the time.

13. You have to understand... he's a man, and therefore already guilty.

The system is calibrated to always treat the woman like his victim. No matter what, no matter who he is, no matter how good a father he is, no matter how hard he tries... he WILL be punished for the crime of having a child by a woman that wants nothing to do with him.

Can you tell I've seen this first-hand?

The injustice that good men suffer at the hands of pernicious females wielding the court system is unbelievable... but it happens every day.

Here's the good news (for your son); Women like that seldom have good relationships with their children. As the children grow up, the inherent selfishness of such women becomes anathema to them. Eventually, they seek out their other parent.

I have been through similar things, and am going through such a hell right now, but I have a great deal of understanding and I know how things will likely turn out if I merely focus on keeping my feet below me. Eventually, the children, as with my older son, will wind up living with me.

The same will happen with your son.

Meanwhile, If she is collecting support, he gets access, and in most states, one parent cannot remove the child from the state without the other parent's or the court's permission.

He should go straight to family court in his county and file a pettition. Consult an attorney as well.

24. Your story echoes so many these days. Bless you for sharing.

And best of luck to your son. I've been effectively unemployed for five years, and am apparently unemployable in my city at the age of forty. If it is so hard for a young, motivated person I don't hold much hope for myself. This is what is becoming of our disposable people society. Corporate bottom lines have no feelings or scruples and apparently major stock holders don't either.

Excellent thread! First, a bouncy presented in 3D (Deadbeat Dem Dad), and then for the first time an Eskimo bouncy, by a guy with a Jewish name. The DUmp is a wonderfully diverse place! Maybe because of Sarah Palin, and the fact that she was going to make him get a job?

It really sucks when someone gets whacked by liberalism.  When it happens to a liberal, it's kinda funny.  I wonder if the "doctor" is smart enough to get that he's been assraped by his own philosophy?

I get so sick of hearing how hard the fathers "try".  Well TRYING doesn't feed their kids.  The mother has to put a roof over her head, feed her, clothe her, pay for her school supplies, pay for everything in this child's life no matter how hard he is "trying".  Trying doesn't pay the bills you loser.

Shadowknows69 has been unemployed for 5 years?  Blames it on the corporations.  There is always a job you can take.  Always.  Lazy, good-for-nothing freeloader parasite.  Or else, she's so stupid, incompetent, nasty and poisonous that she's unemployable in any capacity.  How the hell does one live?  Even Clinton's welfare reform had the deadbeats getting back to work eventually, doesn't it?

House Care Reform

Its horrible, awful that people have to pay for a place to live. How can you people live with yourselves? We need all of you home buyers and wealthy renters to pay for my house, a nice one in the suburbs.

If the child was 9 when he found out about her/him/it, then they weren't married. Good liberal family values. Find em, feel em, fu** em and forget em.

He deserves whatever karma* coming back on him.

...and another thing while I'm on a roll.  Something that really bothers the crap out of me.  When a man says that the woman is using all of his child support for herself (to buy expensive clothes or whatever).  It still costs the same amount to support your kid every month no matter how much the woman spends on herself.  Unless your child is going without then you have no right to comment.

Nineteen hours until the rest of my life (or not)

At about 9:45 AM tomorrow I'm having my appeal hearing for SSI/Disability. If I win, on the grounds I'm unable to work because of some mental health issues, I can finally get further testing that I need to start to properly heal. Both mentally and a considerable amount of physically.

"The worst that can happen" my lawyer informed me in a less than enthusiastic pep talk today, was that we could appeal again if we lose. Which basically means it would be another two years until my next hearing. Essentially a death sentence in all probability for a number of reasons. At the very least the probable death of my marriage.

Long story short any and all prayers, vibes, magick and general well wishes directed my way about 10-ish tomorrow would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

$300 for an office visit???

Damn, wonder what kind of Dr. that DUmmy goes to.

My company just switched health insurance companies, and my wife had to go for an office visit before we got the cards for the new insurance.  I told her just to pay cash for the visit...it was $54.

My 15-year old niece got sick, they went to the local quack, I mean doctor, no insurance or appointment, about $60 plus $40 for meds.. one of which would cause one to fail a drug test, he warned. Warned? Don't you get excused at school when its prescribed?
