Straight Story DUmmie and his Continuing Saga

Apparently his ex-wife (who is now married to someone else) cannot get the medical care or drugs she needs and he would sacrifice everything to get those drugs for her because she's so ill.

And oh yeah, he also wants to pay for her to go skydiving.  Well, he wants you and me to pay for her to go skydiving.  And he wants to help her find her real mom.

But she's married to someone else.   :thatsright:

At some point you just say you are done. And I am at that point.

I spent several hours with my X today. She has 11 prescriptions, some of which she cannot get covered with her state insurance (which runs out at end of month). She is going to the hospital tomorrow, I asked her to promise me she would ask them to admit her and try to find out what is all wrong with her. She is coughing up blood, has two brain cysts, parkinson's disease (though it may be MS), and can hardly talk right now.

She has been to urgent care and the hospital several times in the last few weeks. When my daughter is over I just tell her mommy is getting a checkup. And I hope she has not heard the conversations I have had with dad about it all. One Dr. thinks she may have brain cancer. She is worried our little girl will just remember as someone who is sick all the time.

I am done. Simply done with all this debate over health care and such.

She can't get her cough syrup with codeine because the state won't pay for it (I have given her my own codeine, which I only take when I am in really bad pain a few times a year - I guess by law I am a criminal for giving someone else my scrips).

I have an 8 year old daughter who wants her mommy to be ok - and I, and her new husband, cannot make that happen. All because we don't have enough money.

What am I supposed to tell my little girl? That her mom is sick and cannot get the care she needs because she does not have enough cash???

Should I tell her daddy is not able to help her because I was laid off? How do I explain to her that I worked my ass off for years for various companies but they laid me off because money for investors was more important than anything else? How do I tell her that doing your best means nothing really, and that the only thing that matters is how much cash you have?

I am done. I voted for change, and I want it. Change when it comes to wars (have two sons heading out to those wars soon), change when it comes to how we treat corporations, change when it comes to the homeless, etc.

My own issues are but are a small thing really, I know that. From gay folks wanting DADT repealed to folks fighting for single payer, from our homeless friends wanting something to change to help them to others like me unemployed with personal issues that are eating away at them - where is our help, our bailout?

I want to work. I want my X to have the health care she needs. I would work two or three jobs, if I could find them. I want my daughter to grow up knowing others are concerned about her well being and her health. Seems like the right was all concerned when the X was pregnant but the minute we had a child she was on her own - if I don't 'work' enough and she suffers, well that is her fault - if her mom cannot afford to get the care she needs, that is her mom's fault.

Done. Simply done with it all. All of the politics, keeping powder dry, making compromises, and so on.

You want my vote? Then do what I put you in office to do. If you are not going to that, then screw you.

And later downthread here come the hints for wanting help from his fellow DUmmies with the obligatory slam at the conservative cave for "ripping" on him.

21. Folks on DU have helped me before, would never ask for such again - just kills me

Someday I will be able to help others. I do what I can now by paying it forward. I have given money to many over the last few years when I had it.

I was employed, but was on family leave act and did not get some paychecks (ran out of vacation days, thought I had more than I did, nd had issues with corp credit card where the company told me many things relating to my trip were covered then later told me they were not). DU'ers stepped in and helped me out. I still get ripped for it on some sites where some folks have nothing better to do than rip on us.

I only wish for two things right now - one is to get my X a gift certificate for skydiving and to help her find her real mom, and I am working on all of that and I might be able to do it all between now and April.

Really, we all have problems in way or another but why does it seem like DUmmies have endless problems and endless silly wants?  And if his ex-wife is so sick, why would he want her to go skydiving?

He says she has MS or Parkinson's.  Would it really be wise for an MS or Parkinson's patient to go skydiving?  Especially when no one can afford it.

I doubt any reputable skydiving outfitter would allow something like that.  Never done it, I have no idea what the fine print is, but it can't be good.

Has Michael J. Fox jumped out of a plane recently?  At least he has money.

He's not divorced so how can his wife be remarried ?

He says he doesn't know what she has ?  He's been telling the DUmp for years about her being sick but they don't know what she has ?  I always suspected he not only wrote posts in his wife's name but also posted as his daughter.

He may have been employed but he can't stay employed.  He has money for drugs, liquor and smokes.  Lazy ass.

He also had a free house in California, so he said but couldn't make it work there either.

I thought he'd pull this crap for Christmas but since we outted him he chose to wait.

Well, well, well, she's throwing up blood, has Parkinson's or MS, has not one, but two brain cysts, maybe brain cancer, can barely speak, needs 11 prescriptions, but can't afford them, and cadges painkillers from her deadbeat ex-husband. So he's desperate, and would work three jobs (though whenever he gets one he can't hold it) to provide for her. So he goes to the DUmpmonkeys for a handout on behalf of his dearly ex-beloved----TO PAY FOR SKYDIVING!!! Unbelievable!! I gotta ask: While reading this tale of woe, did ANYONE see SKYDIVING coming? This one is so crazy, it may be true! Well, I take that back, but it's still crazy. One of the best DUmp tales in a long time!

Right out of the gate, this brilliant effort has placed DUmmy The Straight Story right at the forefront of my personal standings for the 2010 Top DUmmy competition. Thank you, DUmmy The Straight Story, that was a classic. Keep up the good work, and someday you may be rewarded. Well, probably not, but it was great anyway.

Skydiving might be a good way for the DUmmie TSS to help his ex get over her medical problems....

Maybe he could go with her, and let her have the parachute....   :-)

Well, it could resolve the whole medical care problem pretty handily, depending.

You know, just about every commercial for prescription meds says something like, "if you can't afford your medicine, X,Y,Z Company may be able to help" followed by contact information. Several organizations exist that do the same thing and disease specific nonprofits (American Cancer Society has tons of resources and makes some of their own grants) help people all the time. If the X is as poor as he claims then those who are supposed to be helping her are doing a piss poor job. Oh, and if her condition is THAT serious there's a public hospital that will admit her. Even financial departments of private hospitals will work with patients on payment plans, getting grant, etc.

But wouldn't STATE insurance be Medicaid which is partially funded by the FEDERAL government?

Can you imagine how distraught DUmmy TSS must have been? He had just posted a masterpiece, one of the finest examples of a panhandling thread in the history of the DUmp, and then, almost immediately, it deterioriated, courtesy of his fellow DUmbasses, into a routine Bush/America hatefest. Not one DUmmy mentioned PayPal, and skydiving disappeared with nary a nod.

It doesn't distract a bit from the elegant artistry of the original panhandling post, but DUmmy TSS was missing the key ingredient in scamming cash from the DUmp. The Andy scam folks were most professional at it. They would post a whining, crying post of misery about how the red-headed queer had a fatal illness that was terminal unless he could be treated 3000 miles away at an astronomical price. His survival was the DUmp's only remaining chance to expose the BFEE, to demonstrate how Diebold stole the election, and to impeach the hated W. To moonbat brains, that was a compelling argument, but it would not have raised a dime had it not been for sock puppets or confederates working in well-timed unison. Every description of how dire the faggot's condition was would be met by two or three other posters asking how to contribute, and others announcing their generosity. The coordinated scam opened the money spigot, as dozens of DUmmies proclaimed how much they had given to the cause. Of course, the vast majority were lying, but as the scam spread around the moonbat world, a lot of money poured in to scam headquarters. TSS had none of that, so even though his plea was even more entertaining than the Andy scam, he didn't make a nickel, and his post will sink into Bush-hate oblivion. The lesson for would-be future DUmp fraudsters is clear: Before initiating your scam, form a team, or at least generate a few sock puppets. You must have a way to prime the pump, or you are wasting your time.

Original message

I just wanted to post a follow up to my earlier thread, clear up something, and a bit of an apology

 I posted this earlier:

At some point you just say you are done. And I am at that point.
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.ph...

I did so out of frustration with where we are right now - I am still supportive of our dem party, I just think we can do better.

The last few days have been hard for me. And earlier today I had two issues (on top of hanging with the X and talking about her health issues) that hit me rather hard.

My youngest son came over, needed some info for his MEPS stuff for the army. He was at boot camp and ended up coming home as he had psych issues (his mom died in 2005, my first X - and his step-dad was a real ass to him). He called me tonight and told me it is pretty much a go, just needs his psych eval and off he goes (again) to boot camp. Going into infantry (again) - even though he tested high enough to go into any area he wanted.

When he came over, I was over at the X's house. I helped him with the paperwork - he put me down as his dad, even though I was not legally his dad for many years (long story).

Then, shortly before I posted, I got a call from a lady at a sky diving place (I had sent her an email over the weekend). She said she could help me with getting my X a gift certificate for a sky dive. I did not expect her to call me, let alone so late on a Tuesday.

When the X found out she had Parkinson's (or as I have said, maybe MS - hope they test her tomorrow for it, not sure why I wish it were MS and not parkinson's...) she used to listen to the song "live like you were dying (link below)" and talked off and on about sky diving.

Being that she has gotten worse I looked into getting her that jump. She can go in April when weather is better.

That call and my son going back to army just hit me hard (my oldest son is already in the Army and is at Ft Hood, heading to Iraq in a few months).

I don't care that she is my X. She is my friend, and I am her best friend. She rants about her health to me, crys about it, and today she was upset that her health care from the state was ending, and was scared about it all (and was upset they would not fill her scrip for her cough syrup with codeine). My daughter won't have the dental care she needs at end of month either.

She worries about how our daughter is handling it all.

All of it just came to a head today. I do, and will continue to, vote for dems. I do think though that we have some in our party that don't have our best interests at heart. For them, I will not vote.

Thanks to you all for talking to me, and sorry if I go off the deep end at times - and sorry for the times I have gone off here on folks, and I have before, I am just not always at my best. I will try to be better in how I reply to others and not be so snarky. DU has seen me through some hard times in life, and I want to thank you all for that (although I will say, if you are a jerk to me expect the same back LOL).

Here is the song/video I mentioned earlier:

The song is for added sympathy.

3. Trying to :) just having a rough patch and a huge backstory I won't go in to
Sometimes, I just need to vent - and I can't to my immediate family, and most all my friends have died.

DU has been a blessing to me in so many ways. May sound silly to some, but that is the reality of it.

OH PLEASE STOP !!

15. I feel maybe I was a bit broad brushed
I just feel I could have spoken better and been more clear in my rant. I wasn't, mainly because I was upset, and when I am I don't always post as clearly as I wish I had.

It may have seemed to some that I was against all dems or such (Probably because I used language like 'change' - not sure if you saw the now deleted sub threads). I did not mean to imply such nor did I wish to imply that I was not happy that we had a dem president.

Simply put, I could have been more clear, just been a bad day, and I could have written better how I felt.

May not be a big deal to some, but DU has been a real friend to me and I wanted to clarify how I felt on it all

Silly? Probably, but I have a lot of friends here, and the only way I can clear things up is to post.

The only thing missing is the paypal link.  :whatever:

(and was upset they would not fill her scrip for her cough syrup with codeine).

Just an aside, my neighbor is a pharmacist at our local Walgreen's........I just asked her how much the retail price would be for a bottle of Turpenhydrate with Codeine cough syrup would be for a person with no insurance........

She said.........for 250 mL..........$8.55 (tax included)........
