You say centrist, I say bullshit.
The one thing that GWB the idiot king got right was that you are either with him or against him. I so agree. You are either with the corporatist oligarchy or against it. The right-wingnuts are with corporatism (read fascism) and the left is against. Where do the so-called centrists stand?
In DU I find it interesting that some posters attack the left. They hid behind being so-called centrists or blue dogs. I say bull shit. Why would Democrats attack the left? The left adds a lot of energy and support to the Party and was very instrumental in electing Pres Obama. One might argue that the left is sometimes too enthusiastic, and I say how can you be too enthusiastic when fighting for freedom? A real Democrat* would not venomously attack the left as the so called centrists (blue dogs) do.
I have found only two kinds of so-called centrists in DU. One appears to me to be the new right wing of the Democratic Party (the blue dogs). And the other are the cowards that agree with the goals of the left but are afraid to identify with the left because the left is portrayed as radical.
Whenever I see a centrist attacking the left, I always ask them to explain the issues that they disagree with the left? Do they disagree with single payer or the robust public option? Do they support escalation of the wars in the Middle East? Do they think that the Patriot Act should be repealed? etc, etc. Never once have they responded to express their stands on issues. IMO their goal here is to disrupt. They attack the left because they are right-wingnuts disguised as Democrats.
Call them out. Ask them how they stand on the issues.
*One must identify a real Democrat as different from the impostors that have sneaked into our tent when the Repukes self destructed.

I agree with you that most self identified centrists have completely forgotten where the center really is, if they ever knew it at all.
The fact that the country is used to conservative rhetoric hasn't moved the center, either. The majority of people, and that's the center, folks, want a robust public option for their health insurance, curbs on runaway executive pay, higher taxes on the rich, and a repaired social safety net.
And that's just the beginning.
Self styled centrists act like all those are positions taken only by loony leftists.
I suggest they might take the time to research a few polls on the subject, but they're all blinded by their own significance and probably won't bother.

Than they do about Lieberman, Nelson, and Stupak. All of whom have a vote in Congress and the ability to kill the legislation if they want. They threatened to do exactly that if concessions weren't made to them.

All those centrists should quit voting democrat and get behind the Repubs
or form their own party. They should be required to pass a purity test (determined by DU?) before we let them vote for a democrat
