official "Happy New Year" thread
« on: December 31, 2009, 02:00:28 PM »
A very Happy New Year's to all, and may God shine upon you!

Because of the snow, I'm not going out to seek my fortune tonight.

Since that medieval folk tale about enjoying the hospitality of a poor man is Yiddish, i.e., Jewish, maybe I got something all wrong anyway.

Maybe one's supposed to do it on the Jewish New Year's Eve.

Happy "early" New Years to you franksolich, and...to all in the "Cave".  Let's hope 2010 brings with it a whole new batch of conservatives running our country! :cheersmate:

And a very happy and prosperous 2010 for you, too, Frank.

I'll be spending the evening with my neighbors, just relaxing and playing cards...maybe a glass of wine.

The boys will be at home, wreaking havoc, I'm sure, and my daughter is with the boyfriend.

Happy Happy New Year's Everybody!!!

Frank...I am really glad that you are not going to try to venture out in the snow tonight. I know that you recognize it's just not a good idea....

We're going to a party......bunch of old guys that we have known for years and their new 30 yr old "bimbos".

Can't figure out what to wear that will be similar to the rest of the women so I think I'm going to wear a pair of jeans.....sometimes the best thing to do is just step back and watch.... :evillaugh:

I think I would rather be staying at home with some "fancied up" hot chocolate, my book and my blankie.  :whatever:
Just hand over the chocolate...back away slowly...far away....and you won't get hurt....

Save the Earth... it's the only planet with chocolate.

A balanced diet is chocolate in both hands.

No, madam, I don't recognize it as a bad idea.

However, when the neighbor was here this afternoon, surveying the neck-high snow on the front porch--the wind seemed to have packed it in there--he reminded me that this "project" is from a medieval Yiddish folk-tale, and so maybe one's supposed to do it on the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah, which is usually in September.

I thought about it, and decided he just may be right.

Just a reminder that the Staff of Conservative Cave has the discretion to edit, lock or delete any threads that they deem fit. So.... No f'n whining, calling out or other types of rabble rousing IF that happens. PWD (posting while drunk) can have less than desired outcomes.

Other than that, please have fun tonight and stay safe!!! :)

Happy New Years to everyone. SR and I are staying in tonight, but having family over for dinner tomorrow. We've got the little party hats and noisemakers out for midnight---if we're still awake.  :-) I bought that stuff 3 years ago and we always forgot them.

Have a safe and happy New Year's Eve and all the best in 2010.
