official Christmas day thread
« on: December 25, 2009, 06:58:41 AM »
Merry Christmas, everyone!

And goodwill to all!

May love and joy and peace and compassion rule over us!

We had an enormous blizzard, and I'm currently snowed in--massive amounts of snow, can't even open the doors to the outside, there's so much snow.

Temperature zero, with wind-chill, -20 to -25 degrees.

I'm the only human being around within six miles of myself.

Guess who's not going anywhere today, but what the Hell--it's Christmas.

I defy the weather to ruin Christmas.

With warmth and affection to all--

Have a lovely day!

Depending on what the roads look like here, I may eliminate one of my stops, but will enjoy the day just the same.

Merry Christmas!

Clear and cold, but not as cold as coach--25 now, high of 33, and some wintry mix (i.e., ICE) coming in tomorrow.  Warms up to 45 Sunday with rain, but have to get everything cleared out because the deep-freeze returns mid-week.

About to shower up, get some breakfast, clean the fireplace and get the yule log (aka the firestarter log) rolling in time to do a little cooking/heating food up.

No way in heck I'm going out today--nowhere to go to!

It's a bit above freezing here. The tail end of that NY/DC storm we got hit with day before yesterday is melting off a little. I may venture out to the country store down the road to pick up some egg nog.

The wind is howling here.  Have decided to not go out to a friends ranch for dinner.  I'll bake cookies and finish getting material ready for some quilts I'm making.

Have a wonderful day.

Ah, a quilter, one of those rare talents.

One of the most famous quilters came from western Nebraska, Mrs. Albert Snyder of North Platte, but that was way before my time.

Not an easy skill.

Merry Christmas.

I won't say much on the weather other than to say there is video of me outside in shorts watching the grandkids running around barefoot this morning.

Oh yeah it was a lil wet from the rain.

Here in southwest Iowa we are looking at between 15-18 inches before this storm ends on Sunday morning. If i had never seen Alaska during January I would think the end would  be near. This started yesterday and won't stop till Sunday except for a few hours this afternoon.

If you looked at the latest weather map, Nebraska is doomed.

But at least I'll go happily, it being Christmas and all.

Merry Christmas everyone...it's a nice, sunny day in South Florida..

I am done preparing....and now enjoying a glass of wine.  1st course goes in the oven at 2:15, guests arrive at 2:30...

My parents took my daughter to Mass, as I had too much to do..so I was able to get everything done, get myself dolled up...and still have time to sit down and enjoy my wine before the joy and laughter begins... :-)  Santa is coming too!!

Merry Christmas to all........

Was told to go home and rest in between the breakfast rush and the dinner rush. Relaxing a little before I have to go back in at 5 to midnight.

Merry Christmas to one and all.

Gifts exchanged and the Turkey is a cooking.

The snow went north and south of us. Getting ready to watch "It's a Wonderful Life". Only problem so far is that it's raining and the Dog won't go out. She don't like to get her feet wet. :lmao:

Merry Christmas!

It's about 35 and overcast here, but its dry outside.  I brought a book to work... I don't expect it to be busy here.

Merry Merry Christmas to All here at CC!  :cheersmate:

Temp has climbed up a bit....but we had torrential rains during the night.

We had much merriment and laughter here last night....and the humble cook in me admits to preparing a fabulous repast for all ... :-) Two were unable to make it at the last minute, but we still had 13.

Sad note...our Jazzy escaped out of the porch...we had the door open to the screen porch because it was almost 60 and the oven had been on all day. Someone left the screen door to the outside open. We didn't know until about 11 when my son went out on the porch and saw it ajar. The rest of the cats were in hiding because of the company and didn't come out. We're afraid the rains washed away her scent to find her way home....she's a total indoor cat and doesn't have front claws. I keep trying to remind myself of how Frank's cats always find their way home. Prayers would be appreciated....
Just hand over the chocolate...back away slowly...far away....and you won't get hurt....

Overcast and 70 here in Jacksonville, Florida. If it gets down to 65 I may have to turn the ceiling fans off, shut the windows and change from my shorts to jeans.

You're not going to the DUmpster, I hope.

Best to get used to the rest of this place first.
