I bought "Going Rogue"

I didn't get the Palin book for anyone as I was the last person I know who read it. However...

I only give out books for Christmas. Mostly because I'm a traditionalist. And I have very little patience for stupid people. So I figure I have to do my part as an Evil Conservative to help spread knowledge and such like to the fork and spoon crowd.

Anyway, I got back from the bookstore today with the last of my shopping. Tell me what you think, or compile your own list.

1. The Alien Invasion Survival Handbook. (invaluable)
2. Our Dumb World. (onion press, offers free globe inside on cover.)
3. Bigger Damner Book of Sheer Manliness (nuff said)
4. The complete Dick Tracy 1942-44
5. The Boys Book..how to be best at everything.
6. A pitchur' book about Prescott AZ, (where I live now)
7. Big Book of Animals
8. Chilluns' World Atlas.

I've got everyone covered....but I'll most likely stop at a few truck stops on the way to Cali, so you never know.

The Big Damn Book of Sheer Manliness has been on my coffee table for years and years.  :cheersmate:

I got my dad a P.J. O'Rourke book and a book on the French Indian war as well as a pocket Constitution. I was at B&N shopping for a book for my brother but ended up getting him a DVD collection of The Outer Limits. More Shopping to do for little brother and SIL but they will be in Poland for Christmas so I have a few weeks. They will both get some books but I'm not sure what yet.

I don't know anyone for whom I could buy Going Rogue but maybe Santa will get it for me, lol.

I got my boyfriend a PERSONALIZED AUTOGRAPHED autobiography of Chuck Yeager.  Is that cool or WHAT?  I sure as hell hope it is.   :whatever:

I grew up reading Roal Dahl, Charles Dickens, and other morbid British authors of "children's" books.  I enjoyed them.  I don't remember Pooh being a big influence. :tongue:

Thanks!  You can get your own personalized stuff by Chuck Yeager, by going to ChuckYeager.com.  He loves speed (traveling, not drugs) and space (like the program) so I think I am good. 

2 years from now, I am sure we will be going to Bonneville for the trials.  We don't have the camping equipment yet, and didn't make reservations, so this year is already out.

And, man o man, I grew up with Pooh.  I love Eeyore.

I'm really wishing I had given the book to my sister. Decided not to for my Mom's sake.

But she was on a royal rampage today. Telling her boyfriend everything he was doing wrong (common), telling Mom what she was doing wrong, pontificating about carbon footprints, bitching about her boyfriends new TV and how TV is wrong, pissed that he laughed at a comment I made, complaining to Mom that I got more packages than she did (Mom spends exact same dollar amount on us and has forever years)... She was contender for bitch of the millennium today. The book would have given her an aneurysm; would have been fun to see the reaction.  :rotf: :rotf:

Her boyfriend and I are having dinner. He asked if I was going to "warn" him about spending his life with her... My response was "why do you think I wanted to have drinks?" He smiled. He knows he's treated like shit... just can't figure out why he puts up with it. After today, I'm done. Not worth it.  :whatever:
