Barack Obama accused of not doing enough for black people
« on: December 23, 2009, 09:54:38 AM »
Quote
There have been growing rumblings among black liberals and pundits recently weeks that their first president has been inattentive to the community that supported him by more than 90 per cent.

Although the president’s polling numbers remain strong among the group, it is unlikely to continue with black people suffering disproportionately to others in the recession. Danny Glover, the activist film actor, told The Daily Beast website recently: “I think the Obama administration has followed the same playbook, to a large extent, almost verbatim, as the Bush administration. I don’t see anything different.”

John Conyers, the Republican chairman of the House judiciary committee, told a newspaper that Mr Obama “was getting bad advice from clowns”, criticised him for the poor handling of the closure of Guantánamo Bay and for “bowing down” to the “nutty Right-wing” over health care reform.

Mr Obama hit back yesterday saying that: “This notion, somehow, that because there wasn’t a transformation overnight that we’ve been neglectful is just not accurate,”

The Congressional Black Caucus, of which Mr Obama was part as a senator, has had a long-simmering feud with the White House. The 43-member group recently boycotted a procedural vote on financial regulatory reform as a warning that its support could not be counted on.

Barbara Waters, a representative from Los Angeles, said: “We can no longer choose not to speak about African Americans or the working class. I think that it is important for us to educate those people around [Obama].”

Tavis Smiley, a TV and radio broadcaster, criticised the White House for “incrementalism” in its reform efforts, citing Martin Luther King’s warning against the “tranquillising drug of gradualism”.

The president’s performance was all about “jobs, jobs, jobs” he said. “It’s especially about jobs in black America, where we are triple the national average, in some places quadruple the national average of unemployment.”

In a radio interview, the president stressed that there were limits to what he could do for any class of people.   ...

Yet his support among blacks remains sky high. Could it be that they don't pay attention to politics once their ballot is cast?

They ought to stop whining and just be thankful he isn't doing anything "For" them the way he is doing things "For" the rest of us.

I hear that, and I make sure there's a round chambered.

It's going to be interesting when those 90% realize that he's not going to help them, never had any intentions of helping them, and really could care less - meaning he's not losing any sleep over it.

Cause he's up in the "Big House" now... :afro: (sorry I just couldn't help myself) :(

You can`t "help" anyone,no matter what race or color they are when they have no respect for or pride in themselves or their community.

:exactly:

And...I'M NOT RACIST, I just can't stand to watch this man and his administration destroy our beloved America. I will even go as far to say, I'm painfully aware that past Presidents have played a bad roll also.  BUT never have I seen this kind of  "CHANGE" in America, that I've seen taking place in the last 11 loooong months.

I had made a video of President and Laura Bush greeting the 0Bamas at the curb and escorting them to the White House, with the Jeffersons theme song playing.  :censored: youtube, myspace, and facebook all deleted the damn thing.  Commie sympathizers, all of them.

off topic, but did anyone else notice they identified conyers as the "Republican Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee"?  is the press going to have a knee-jerk reaction and label someone as Republican simply for criticizing 0bama?

Maybe Lord Ø ordered him evicted from The Party for his disloyalty.  Turn in your little red book, your secret decoder ring, and see to it the secret handshake is changed to the next in sequence; the whole works.

Next thing you know, the Ministry of Troof an' Shit will be revising him out of all Big Brotha approved communications venues.  Like he never existed.

The problem with playing the victim card is that the "victims" get the gimme's, expect goodies ... now ... and don't know the word, "enough" ... or the word, "patience" ...
If, as anti-Covid-vaxxers claim, https://www.poynter.org/fact-checking/2021/robert-f-kennedy-jr-said-the-covid-19-vaccine-is-the-deadliest-vaccine-ever-made-thats-not-true/ , https://gospelnewsnetwork.org/2021/11/23/covid-shots-are-the-deadliest-vaccines-in-medical-history/ , The Vaccine is deadly, where in the US have Pfizer and Moderna hidden the millions of bodies of those who died of "vaccine injury"? Is reality a Big Pharma Shill?

Millions now living should have died. Anti-Covid-Vaxxer ghouls hardest hit.

The Telegraph is British, maybe they just assume anyone in any sort of opposition to Professor Utopia is a Republican.  Or maybe he switched parties this afternoon and it hasn't hit the news yet?

What has the (so-called, as I don't believe in it) "black community" done to lift themselves up?

What do they mean only 90%. Shit blacks have always voted 90+% for a democratic President.

Ask for "help"....which in Ebonics translates to "A Handout".
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

Gee. Who came into power in Congress at the beginning of 2007. Who has been in the WH since January 2009. These cold, hard facts won't change some people's minds though. They'll still vote for the same losers next election cycle. And they'll still be unemployed and beholden to the welfare state.

Um, it seems they conveniently forget that little fact.  Kind of like the famous Hillary quote or all the bombastic rhetoric about being the opposition party.  Convenient memory / hypocrisy is simply a corollary to the maxim "DUmmies Lie"

They forget all about the causes of IndyMac, Freddy and Fanny.
