Famous French Rocker.... never heard of the guy myself, went to the hospital for what should have been a routine operation.  The doctor botched it.  So the guy came to LA to get the original operation repaired.

And 0bama wants to give us the French level of care.
Johnny Holladay in LA for repair to French medical care

Quote
Johnny Hallyday, France's biggest rock star, was in a medically induced coma in a Los Angeles hospital on Saturday after a back operation in France went wrong, his producer said.

Quote
Hallyday had an operation overnight on Wednesday to Thursday at LA's Cedars Sinai hospital to fix lingering back trouble from a Nov 26 operation in Paris - led by Dr Delajoux - for a herniated disc.

Hallyday's press service said on Thursday that lesions from the initial operation required more surgery, and that he had suffered an infection following the first operation.

Mr Camus told France's TF1 television on Friday that Hallyday was put in a coma "so he won't suffer," and the outlook was positive.

"The news is very positive, he's very strong," the rocker's son David Hallyday, himself a singer, told France-Info radio as he arrived at the hospital late on Friday.

Mr Camus, speaking Friday on French radio, said the American medical team treating Hallyday said the rocker had suffered ill-effects from the operation in France, and that infection "was attacking his bone marrow".

"If what I'm being told in the United States is true, this operation was a massacre," he said on RTL radio. On France-Info, Camus said: "It seems the Americans fixed things that they found that were very badly done."

Every country has its share of incompetent docs, etc., but the over-all standard of care in countries in EuroLand and Canuckia is something the MSM has to hide rather than tout. The US is a refuge for EuroLanders and Canuckians seeking excellent and timely medical care. Any of the various incarnations of ObamaCare would not only cause pain, literal and metaphoric, in the US, but in may other countries as well.

As an aside, engineers tend toward laconic communication, so maybe your sig line could be: "An optimist sees the glass as half full, a pessimist sees the glass as half empty, an engineer sees that the glass is over-designed"

I watch a lot of asian media, espeically from Korea.  Koreacare is a lot better than Sovietcare, which I saw first hand.  But one of the recurring memes from Korea, Japan and Taiwan is that  rich folks, even doctors, arrange to have their non emergency care done in the US.

Part of the reason of course is what is required of the patient and the family at Aisan hospitals.  The patient's family is expected to provide meals and do laundry and to have someone there all the time.  Family members are even expected/allowed to be there overnight, and there are cots provided for them, in order to take care of bathroom and other issues.

Also, Asian hospitals have a co pay.  In Japan, the first 5,000 is the patients responsibility.  The government will cover anything over that if asked. Of course, if the government is paying for it, you get it on the government's schedule.  So those who can afford it either go to the US or pay extra at home.
