official "taking off now" for Christmas thread

I'd appreciate it if a moderator or supermoderator "stickied" this to the top here; my own powers donn't give me that opportunity.

Anyway.....

Because some of us, especially homebody franksolich, worry when members aren't seen around for some days, if you want, please tell us when and where you're headed for Christmas.

I'll be home at Christmas, marveling in awe over the Glory and Majesty of God amidst the lonely desolate Sandhills of Nebraska.  In fact, I'll probably be the only human being for miles around, as I have to watch not only the old guy's place across the river, but also the neighbor's place six miles up the road, because he and the wife and three children are going to his in-laws' in Omaha.

We have plenty of snow here right now, but fresh snow for Christmas would be nice, but I hope we don't get any more sub-zero temperatures.

The cats as usual will feast on their usual Christmas fare.....but only at such time when all cats are accounted for, and inside.  If one's missing, all the rest have to wait until the missing one shows up.

We will spend Christmas Eve with the in-laws for some real Italian food and yummys, as my 2 year old would say. Then putting together a play kitchen that night while watching an old Christmas classic. We haven't decided which one yet. Christmas day we are hanging out at home just enjoying each other and of course, the reading of the REAL Christmas story, the birth of our Savior.

I will be staying home and enjoying the season with my wife and Dog. Going out tonight and look at Christmas decorations.

Will be here at home!

Having our usual Christmas Eve night with friends in for dinner.

This will be the first Christmas since 2003 that my son is here. I'm a happy momma... :-)

Unfortunately, I did my travelling for the year back on the Thanksgiving holiday.  Me, DefiantSix(actual) and DefiantSix-1 will be sticking it to the home -20 for Christmas this year.

I will be in town, but more than likely not online too much.  Lots of different places to go.  Never did make my danged rum balls.  Maybe this weekend.  I still have to put my tree up too..

Our family will be at my brother's house a couple of town away for Christmas dinner but other than that, we're not doing any traveling.  Gotta work the week between Christmas and New Years although it'll be dead as far as incoming work.  Hope everyone who is traveling has a safe trip outbound and inbound!

Kristin and I will be going to my mom's place in Athens (2 1/2 hours away) to celebrate my aunt's birthday (Dec. 23), Christmas (Dec. 25) and my mom's birthday (Dec. 27) on the 26th. Other than that, not much planned. Just a lot of relaxing.

Myself, Mrs. doc and the dogs are enroute to Charleston, SC, where we are meeting up with our kids and grandkids for four days over the Holiday, returning through Alabama to visit our SIL, and Mississippi, then a drive up the river to STL, and home.

Sitting in a hotel in Paducah, KY right now, and its still freezing here........wondering how far south we need to go before it starts warming up......

I am assuming you will be coming through on I40 then on down to Spartanburg out of Asheville, you will be going through my neck of the woods.

It's cold! And very damp.

As you pass the exit for WestTown Mall....you can wave!  :-)

Safe travels!!!

I think that is the route, we'll be in Knoxville tomorrow night, and Columbia, SC on Wednesday night.......on into Charleston on Christmas Eve.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

We are just "winging it" as we go along........we arrived in the Knoxville area an hour ago, and we are staying with an old physicist colleague of mine that is retired from the Oak Ridge National Lab.......he is arranging a brief tour for us, assuming my old security clearance still passes muster.

When we get to Columbia, we typically look for La Quinta Inns, as we have two dogs travelling with us, and they are very "pet friendly".
