Tiger Woods Voted AP's Top Athlete of the Decade
« on: December 16, 2009, 11:13:00 AM »

Despite revelations of affairs so numerous that the words "sex addiction" have been used to describe it, Tiger Woods is, no doubt, the greatest pro golfer playing right now. According to AP members, Tiger Woods is also the athlete of the decade.

More than half of the ballots were returned after the events of Nov. 27th, when Tiger Woods crashed his car into a fire hydrant and then a tree, beginning a period of insights into his private life he likely thought would remain hidden forever.

Since then, sordid details of multiple affairs, including mistresses and prostitutes as well, have graced the front pages of mainstream media as well as tabloids. With so much negative publicity, small wonder that his popularity has crashed and sponsors have begun dropping him.

There is no denying his dominance in golf, however. In this decade, he won 64 times (globally), including 12 majors. He now trails all-time majors leader Jack Nicklaus by a scant 18 - 14. In that entire period, when leading going into the final round, he lost only one time. During the decade, he won 56 PGA Tour events. That number surpasses the career numbers of all but four of golf's greatest players.

The AP vote, like many of his tournament victories, was a runaway. He received 56 of the 142 votes cast by AP member editors. Second place was Lance Armstrong, six-time Tour de France winner in the decade, with with 33 votes. Third place was tennis' Roger Federer, who has won more Grand Slam singles titles than any other man, with 25 votes.

Well, Tiger had at least 14 women, of which 10 were pretty hot. Lance Armstrong left his wife for Sheryl Crow...advantage Tiger.  /s

His Doctor was charged with illegal possession of a banned drug. Tiger had pain pill in the vehicle he wrecked 9 months after the operation on his knee. WTH. This award will be meanless if he has been doping.

Hi,

My now deceased father-in-law used to call golf Cow Pasture Pool.  If Tiger is an athlete then so was Minnesota Fats.....
I am one who believes golf is indeed a skill, and a very popular one, but I will never believe that one would call golfers athletes.

If a golfer is an athlete than Rosie O'Donnel is a beauty queen.....

And yes, I believe professional golfers ARE athletes and Tiger IS Top Athlete of the Decade, but also the stupidest Athlete of the Decade and close to the Worst Husband and Father of the Decade.

All so sad.... :cheersmate: :mental: :bawl:

Hey....I can see why he would get top athlete....

Not only is he considered to be the best golfer ever.....but at the same time he is top in his particular sport...he's managed to be married, father 2 children, have a mistress and boink untold number of women.

That requires a great deal of mental concentration and personal performance.....

Moral character was obviously not part of the criteria....  :therock:

Certainly the fastest rising and falling sports star of the decade.  At least it wasn't Obama  :-)

My personal pick would be Derek Jeter.  Consistently fabulous without the demons other athletes seem to suffer.

He certainly seems possessed of Olympian levels of stamina.

Maybe I'm a minority of 1, but upon consideration, realizing that Tiger has been (is) deeply pathological, this is what I'd like to see happen if he wants to hold onto and repair his marriage and restore Elin's trust:
Elin should help her sick husband to get well. See him through long, deep psychiatry sessions, and whatever other treatment it takes, and watch his back. She is a strong woman. To hell with whatever anyone else thinks. Their two beautiful children need a loving father. She knows the pain of the children of divorce. She needs a loving husband, which she'd have if Tiger is cured.

It may not work, but hurtful as the process may be, Tiger and the marriage deserve a secomd chance. IMHO.

I won't quibble about your assessment. It would be much better if reconciliation would happen. From what I have read, she is shopping for a divorce attorney and is waiting for everything to come out in the open. So, I see little hope that they can patch things up. Those emails rather than the number of the Ho's probably put the nail in the coffin from her perspective.

She should divorce the loser and take him for everything he's worth...   Being a public figure means nothing to me...He's a dog. Period.

She just better hope she didn't contract anything from this cheating, pathetic P.O.S.

Nope he's just a horny guy with a whole bunch of disposable income....and many opportunities to get some "strange".

He's not sick, nor is he a "sex addict". "Sex addiction" is a phrase coined by some shrink who had a patient who wanted an excuse to explain his/her behavior to spouse and family.

The reality is....they have no respect for their spouse and marriage vows, got caught and didn't want to hand over the cash.

For people like this ...they usually have some deep insecurities and being sought after by individuals of the opposite sex feeds the insecurities into making the individual think they are "hot shit on a gold platter " when they would still be "cold piss on a paper plate" without money or prestige.

Tiger's next step is to either get his shit together, or it's Lindsay Lohan-ville.  The guy's 30 years old (probably older, I don't care).  Get your shit together and put your dick back in your pants, you dumb bastard, or you'll have a nation of bastard children coming after your ass in 20 years looking for a payout.

If you have ever stood near Tiger at a tournament, you cannot doubt that he has been pumped up on HGH for years. He's got muscles like a professional bodybuilder, and we now know he doesn't have time to do many workouts in the gym. He is Barry Bonds without the huge freaky head. Now that we know he's a liar without conscience, a massive cheater, why would he abstain from an easily available, undetectable, illegal muscle builder? If he returns, I wonder if announcers will still marvel over his strength hitting from the rough, since the source of his unprecedented power has apparently been discovered.

I bet his wife knows if he has been doping. She is going to divorce his rotten ass. Bookies in Vegas are giving odds on how many millions she will get. They quit taking odds on whether or not a divorce will happen because of one sided bets. She should get half and then some.

With a divorce is looming and questions about what happened that night, I expect him to stay low for at least 6 months missing the Masters. He is going to take some big time heat from the media and fans.
