So the guy in front of me is carrying a Glenn Beck book...

...waiting to board a flight to Salt Lake City. This was yesterday afternoon. I've actually come to appreciate this type of truth-in-advertising. It's the equivalent of a hypothetical T-shirt that would read, "Caution: I'm stupid, angry, and dangerous." I mean, if I had a copy of a book by Beck or his ilk because I was doing research or something, I'd keep that hidden like it was hardcore porn.

I didn't think about him again until after the plane landed. I couldn't have described him. ("Crazy, you know, an idiot ... carrying a Glenn Beck book," would have been my answer, if I'd been asked for a description. "How do you know he's a crazy idiot?" might be a follow-up question. "Well you know, he was carrying that Glenn Beck book.")

After the plane landed, as I was walking up the aisle toward the exit, a man shot out of his seat, blocking me while he opened the overhead compartment. It was an obnoxious and obtrusive move, but that in itself didn't bother me. I've become a much happier person since I've learned to ignore petty actions like that.

But once he had the overhead opened, he reached in and grabbed his jacket. It didn't budge on the first try, so in one furious, impulsive move, he ripped that jacket out of the overhead with all the force and speed he could muster. A woman's carry-on bag crashed to the floor, and what a racket it made. Whatever was in her bag sounded fragile, and I wonder if all the contents survived. Her bag was definitely not full of pillows and stuffed animals.

It was impossible not to be irritated with this impulsively juvenile, jackass behavior, and I focused in on him a little more. It was Glenn-Beck-boy. All this ripping and tugging and wrecking of the woman's bag had been done with his right arm alone, because the Glenn Beck book was still gripped by his left paw.

He really epitomized that sort of Beck-Coulter-Malkin-Hannity mentality: Faster, get out of my way, gimmee that right now.

I haven`t flown a lot but it always has seemed folks are rather polite when it comes to getting there belongings gathered at the gate.
Course I am not a DUmmy where things happen that never do to normal folks.

2. So typical, isn't it?
You can spot them a mile away. Rudeness and arrogance are just two of the traits most of them seem to have.

What I think is the ultimate in hypocrisy are the people driving around with the sign of the fish stuck to the back of their cars. Or a "I'll follow you, Jesus, to heaven" bumper sticker. They're the ones running red lights, cutting you off, speeding, not using turn signals when they change lanes in front of you, etc.

Something must be protecting these idiots...from themselves!

Sorry...a bouncy has to be a specific personal encounter.
Please read the rules.

55. This is a true story.
I was in the right hand lane and there was a car in the right hand turn only lane next to the car ahead of me. This woman in the right hand turn had been in this lane for a couple of blocks and would shoot through the intersection to get ahead of everyone. Well the person in the car ahead of me apparently didn't know what this person had been doing and crashed into this car that had been in the turn lane when it didn't turn and went straight ahead and attempted to cut in front of his car. Well, I was stuck behind them and what I witnessed was beyond the pale. This woman who had caused the accident was swearing at the man telling him he was a "****ing asshole" and every other name she could think of for not letting her cut him off. I thought for a while that she was going to hit him she was in such state.

Well, to make a long story short I took my wife to church, she is a Catholic, I am an agnostic at best, but I think that the priest is a pretty level headed guy and he doesn't try to convert me. Well, low and behold, here was that women who had caused the accident. I could believe my eyes. It got even worse when my wife informed me that she was the head of the CCD classes that teaches religion to the kids.

Start your own damn bouncy!  :censored:

He drives like you just described. When I asked him why, he said, "I just always have to be first. I have to."

He's a fundie who has chosen to ignore the Biblical passage, "The first shall be last, and the last, first."

Oh cool, you have a fundie family member too.
Just in case you weren`t getting enough cred.

It's been my experience that it's the DUmmies that behave the way T.O. describes.  ALL of them are arrogant, obnoxious, self-centered, rude, loud, and generally in a pissed-off mood.  Those are their GOOD points....

People I've met carrying a book by Rush, Hannity, Beck, Levin, et al have been kind, gracious, and pleasant....

I wonder what those a-holes will say about me next week when I'm flying with my copy of Atlas Shrugged.

And no, DUmmies--I won't have a string attached to a steamer trunk trying to pass as carry-on--that's YOUR bag.  Everything I take on a plane fits quite comfortably in my bookbag, which fits easily under the seat in front of me...toiletries, change of shirt/skivvies, iPod, book.  That's IT.

So, I'm driving out to Oklahoma a month ago. Just as soon as I crossed the Mississippi into Arkansas, traffic slowed to a crawl due to only one lane being open and being routed through an exit. So there's three lanes merging into one, with the far right shoulder being clear. A pickup was in the right lane, having weaved in and out from behind us. It got up just past me on the right, and it was covered in democrat/0 stickers. After a few minutes of moving a few feet, he jumped into the right shoulder and took off ahead of everybody. About thirty minutes later, near the exit with all having merged into one lane, he was sitting on the side of the shoulder, apparently cursing as no one was letting him back in the proper lane to continue on. I'm sure someone eventually let him in. It wasn't me.

Yeah, I was flying last week, and I did indeed have copy of Glenn's book with me for all to see.
The only thing said to me by strangers was "Is that a good book?  I've been wanting to get it".

Sorry, 0 bongs.

Now if you had added something like, "Then I shouted, 'Hey! Just because you worship that fundy child molester Glen Beck doesn't mean you can oppress us and destroy our property like Bushco did to Iraq!' and everyone on the plane started clapping. Then he muttered something about 'your picaninny president' and slunk off," then you might have gotten a bong or two.

I've purposely pulled out my latest Ann Coulter and my autographed Mark Levin book on flights bound for D.C. and not once has anything said a word to me about it.

I haven't seen the first piece of evidence that Glenn Beck is crazy.  That's the accepted wisdom, and boy do they ever lap up accepted wisdom in a flash.  (The day after Garafalo called the teapartiers racist, that's what they ran with.  Same here).  All he does is tell people the shit he's found out about the administration.  It's all impeccably researched, sourced, and presented.  Who are the crazy people?

The only comment I ever got on a book in an airport was "Republican Party Reptile" by PJ O'Rourke.  Some guy said "that sounds like a real good book!"   Could that be taken two ways?  Perhaps, but he looked like a retired executive.  Kindly, not angry-looking.

Someone needs to compile a book of DUmmie bouncies....it would make good airplane reading....you could stop reading most any place without that "I'm missing something feeling".

Oh, and it could have a subtitle, you know like...........

and how to write them
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

Glenn Beck boy was probably a NY Times book reviewer rushing to a cocktail party and pissed off because there wasn't a seat in first class.
