My job is not so bad...
« on: December 11, 2009, 03:40:28 PM »
We got a letter from the CEO stating that we're getting a double bonus this year... :-)

They did do away with the big corporate bash....that I never go to...so this is much better...

I still have the leadership luncheon that is always held in a nice restaurant...and I throw my staff a party as well...so I still have 2 holiday parties this year. :-)

But in other news...
The CEO said if the Public Option passes.....we're all going on it as our current healthcare coverage can not compete.... :wtf2:  Being a healthcare organization...we are self-sufficient.

One of the largest employers in MN is excited for the public option. They're going to drop everyone in a heartbeat.

My plan is valued somewhere between $15-25K for an individual, depending on what I take advantage of. I see that going away fast.

My place always has 2 parties for Christmas, had one already and the second
is next Friday.

Bonus...maybe. It depends on how bad the numbers are.

The fact that I even have a job now - after 10 months on unemployment - is something of a bonus for me this year.

I'm grateful for my job even though it stinks.  I was laid off once by this company already, but I've moved up a bit in seniority, so I'm relatively safe from another layoff.

We have a department Christmas/birthday party scheduled for the 16th.  Don't know about a company-wide Christmas party yet.

I count them every day.  I was laid off for about 9 months.  I'm grateful to have a job even if it does pay a lot less than my last one.

I try too but making less money and having to pay more for certain things makes it harder. Plus having crappy health insurance sucks (high deductible) and knowing the democrats are going to make me pay more for that crappy policy I have really irritates me.

Please understand that the following isn't a rant or rail upon you, Freep...

I'm currently making less money than I would have if I'd stayed on unemployment, have NO health insurance - both of those may improve in the new year, depending on how badly Maøbama ****s the farmers this year - and have a wife still recovering from injuries sustained in the automobile accident a year ago, only one vehicle where we really need the second one we haven't been able to replace since the accident last year, and a 5-year boy growing out of his wardrobe every 3-months.

Now, I can sit crying in my little pity-me pool, and be exactly where I was when the tears started falling, or I can stand the **** up like a man, saddle up, lock and load, tell Maøbama "**** you" and "molon labe, ****er", and move the hell out, however quickly or slowly I am able to progress.  The best way I know of to pick up the pace, is to remember that "those that be with us are more than be with them"2 Kings 6, be thankful for the backup, and wade into the fight.

Quote
When upon life's billows you are tempest tossed
When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost
Count your many blessings, name them one by one
And it will surprise you what the Lord has done

Are you ever burdened with a load of care
Does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear
Count your many blessings, every doubt will fly
And you will be singing as the days go by

When you look at others with their lands and gold
Think that Christ has promised you his wealth untold
Count your many blessings, money cannot buy
Your reward in heaven, nor your home on high

So, amid the conflict, whether great or small
Do not be discouraged, God is over all
Count your many blessings, angels will attend
Help and comfort give you 'til your journey's end

I didn't take is as a rant against me.
I may have been whining a bit but, I still get up and go to my crappy job everyday and continue to try to find something better. Unlike the DUmmies I'm not wanting Obama to peel off some bills from his stash for me. I want him to stay the **** out of the way and let things cycle back up. He keeps tweaking it and makes it worse and the goons who voted for him can't see the damage that he is doing. If some of the things the dems are working on become law people like us who are working crappy paying jobs and managing to survive may not be able too if we have to pay in to finance all his hand outs and give aways.

I am truly counting my blessing this year....for a solid job...but mostly for my new daughter who has brought me more joy than I thought possible...For those of you struggling...I'll pray that things turn around for you this coming New Year...Y'all just gave me a dose of reality.

Next time I whine about my job, I'll slap myself.

I'm actually happy for those who are not having hard times right now gives me a glimmer of hope that things may turn around soon. All in all yeah its tough sometimes but I have a roof over my head a vehicle to get me to work and back, free internet and cable from our neighbor (she allows us too use her wireless and cable so I'm not stealing  :-) ) a wonderful fiancee with an annoying dog and cat and my daughter is well taken care of and has a good life. So things could be worse.

I hear of so many people that wont take a job because it pays less then unemployment pays, but the same person is the first to cry when the unemployment runs out and they still have no job.

The winter of 2006 I had to take a job in the deli of a grocery store, I was lucky to take home $200 a week...but it paid the rent that winter. (I was lucky to have a girlfriend that spent alot of money on me  :evillaugh:)The job eventually led to more hours and opportunity at the same store and by the following year I was the Asst Manager of a popular resturant in town.

I "lost" my job back in april, but they have continued to pay my salary and benefits up until mid January.   I have had a long paid vacation.

I am very grateful to them, and I still admire the place as a great place to work.  But given economic reality, there is no way I can get rehired by them in the foreseeable future.   I still get to apply for work there as an internal hire though.   I had an interview on Friday.  I interview really really badly, so I don't think I got anywhere.   The job I applied for must have had 2000 applications for it.

Anyway, it was a great job, and I really liked it.

I got an inheritance back in October.  My plan for the next year is to go to school full time and get an associates degree.  I am hoping that by January 2011 0bama damage to the job market will have calmed down a bit.

I didn't have the funds to go to school while I was working.  I should have.  I have wanted to do this for three years now.  I am going to make this work.

I had my unemployment bout back in 01.  11 months, worked 6 months, and then another 9 months unemployment.  As much as my job bites the big one, I am EXTREMELY GRATEFUL for it.

I would also like to offer up a little prayer for those of you that are searching for work.  I have walked in those footsteps before, and it ain't easy, but it will all work out.

Prayers for all of us....no matter what our situation....it isn't the same it was a few years ago.

We need to pray that things will not continue on this downward spiral much longer...and that the new year will bring all of us much better circumstances.

Cause right now with the economy the way it is....no matter what our circumstances....none of us is invincible.

We've found that out in our household. Other half is now on the rise...and while mine is not too great right now - partially being affected by the time of year....we are surviving and are thankful for the many blessings we do have.
Just hand over the chocolate...back away slowly...far away....and you won't get hurt....

Save the Earth... it's the only planet with chocolate.
