WHY CAN'T WE TAKE THIS DOWN A NOTCH OR TWO AND ACTUALLY DISCUSS IT?

What are we here for? Are we exchanging information and ideas or are we looking for ways to insult each other?

you want to take things down a notch or two after your last OP?

You throw fuel on the fire and then complain about about the blazing.

16. So I shouldn't express my point of view here. Right?

Not good enough Cali. It's a discussion board and we should be able to discuss things.

21. Then start by drawing back your comment in your POV post.

Summing up a comment by suggesting that "IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT" if things go south isn't a good way to stimulate rational discussion. Nor is 'yelling'.

You don't want to discuss things, Cary. You want to tell others how they should think - and if they disagree, well, they're to blame for everything. You made that abundantly clear.

Admit that you're far from perfect and maybe, just maybe, the people with whom you with to 'discuss' things might consider it.

27. I never said I was perfect.

I have seen no evidence that any of you are willing to discuss this here. None. I see only a lot of defensiveness and evasion, like insinuations that I think I'm perfect. Or worse. A lot worse.

31. Which opening post?

Look, my opinion is still that advocating not voting or advocating a a third party is: 1) against Forum Rule 2; and 2) going to lead to victories for Republicans.

If I've said that in a more aggressive way, I'm sorry. It's not a positive message but I have a reasonably objective argument. My argument has not been countered with reasonably objective arguments. It's been countered primarily with ad hominems and other red herring variations.

Also there are a lot of people who think my feelings are hurt or want my feelings to be hurt. I'm not a newbie and I'm no stranger to heated debate. I happen to be a trial attorney. [sic] My feelings aren't going to be hurt and the concern is rather odd. Believe it or not I'm nearly as emotional on the subject as those on the other side. I'm very concerned that we have opened a big opportunity for Republicans. I'm also more than a little amazed that when that argument is made the response is so defensive and even indifferent to that particular consequence. I mean really, if we can't coallesce around the notion of keeping neocons out of a position of power, then what hope do we have?

Like I said, I haven't seen anyone here engaging in constructive dialogue on the issue, yourself included. Instead of trying to convince me that I'm beligerent and inflammatory, which is really just another ad hominem, why don't you take the high road and engage me in a reasonably objective discussion of the issue?

I mean a simple "I disagree, it will work out because . . ." could go a long way Cali. Or else you could say a thousand other things. Why do you and these other people keep having to try to convince me that I'm somehow at fault for the controversy?

I find people are alot more willing to talk when not being insulted, yelled at and bullied.

Please, let's discuss it.

However I notice my last thread was locked and the mod said we shouldn't be calling each other out.

How do we discuss it without calling each other out? I'm thinking I'm going to do a lot more alerting, as the mod suggested. I'll start another thread on the subject in what is perhaps a less aggressive tone. Let's see if we can do it.

So your idea of taking it down a notch is to accuse everyone that doesn't agree with your premise of being "stupid"?

30. What is this "IT" you want to "DISCUSS"?

does it have to do with "purity versus compromise"?

because I noticed your last tome on the subject was not very open to "discussion." It kind of dictated how things should be.

What is there to "discuss," anyway?

32. There is everything to discuss, but only if you allow it.

You need to start by cutting me some slack and stop trying so hard to accuse me. Stick to the issues.

Yes, purity versus compromise is an issue. Don't you think? We have a large group of us who are accusing another perhaps larger group of something. Don't you think that issue can be discussed calmly and rationally?

Why don't we start with this? I don't want to see Republicans and "conservatives" gain anything. I don't want to see them anywhere near our government if we can help it.

We can't agree on that any more? Because you know what? That's my only real concern. That's it. Why can't you understand that? Or do you understand and do you really believe I'm the most miserable monster because of it?

Hmmm.  The Cary Grant primitive must be of the prima donna temperament.

I'm trying to think what corporatist appointments he's talking about.  All I'm seeing is radical moonbat czars, not the buttoned-down guy in IBM blue.  What gives?   Also, what torture?  I will give him the lousy health care reform.

I saw the Cary Grant primitive's thread to which they were making reference.  Basically it's the "If you don't vote Dem, you automatically vote Republican" nonsense.  For a supposed "trial lawyer"  (Yeah, right.  :whatever: ) his arguments are awfully weak.

I had to skim half these posts, do these people make a point of taking the Lord's name in vain? Why don't they at least mix it up a little by using "Allah", or are the cowards afraid, so they they only commit blasphemy against the name of the Christian God? How about "Allah on a pogo stick", just for a change?

Everything they do proves that they aren't just anti-religion, they are most pointedly anti-Christian. Barring Christian symbols (at Christmas, yet-which only exists because of Christianity), taking only His name in vain, banning only Christian prayer from school (while building special "prayer rooms" for Muslims), even teaching Islam in some schools under the guise of "multiculturalism"-I hope they don't think they're being subtle, because they're just too open and pointed in what they're doing.

I don't wish eternal hell on anyone, but they are on the greased track.

The tolerant bunch can't tolerate themselves..... :rotf:....but we're supposed too.

The only motive they have for living is "me first".
As much as they have convinced themselves that they are oppressed innocents at the hands of the powerful they also are hell bent that no one else will be ahead of them in line for the goodies once they start flowing.
It is only natural that they would hate each other with the same intensity as they do everyone else.
