Where is everyone?

Seems I have the place to myself.

I hope you all hid the stuff that breaks easily.

LOL.

At work.  Won't have much time to play tonight.

Night shift sucks.  Man, didn't we just get done with an outage?

Wondering the same thing.  I'm trying hard to postpone a serious effort at an annotated bibliography, and Mafia Wars can only distract me for so long.

Oh crap! I forgot to lock up the magic markers and beer again!
I can see November 2 from my house!!!

Forget change, bring back common sense.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

Hell, those are the least of your worries.  Thor forgot to lock up the fireworks and blow-up sheep.

Between Thanksgiving and shortly after New Year's Day internet traffic all over declines, because people tend to get busy in real life.

However, something such as a megamassive snowstorm that afflicts a large part (populaton, not area) of the country causes a big bump, for the duration of the storm and a couple of days afterwards, because millions are snowed in.

It's been slow here at conservativecave since a couple of days before Thanksgiving, but not disastrously so.  Also, the timing of traffic seems to have changed.  It used to be that evenings were busy here, but at the moment, mornings and afternoons are busier.

In my case, the weather in southern Minnesota and western Utah has interfered with internet service (wireless) all day long, driving me to distraction.  I posted something here at 8:00 a.m. and then walked away, because I already knew what would happen.

It finally posted three hours later.

It makes me want to go back to dial-up internet; that never went out.

Does that happen often?  The work I mean, not the outage.

I got a phone call from one of our clients.  "I need to have 700 users added to our account; here's 20 pages of login IDs."  So I'm working on my day off tomorrow.

I just saw bkg's comment.

Yeah, QWest.

My internet service provider is NOT QWest, but is linked with QWest in Minnesota and Utah.  I assume, without knowing a damned thing about it, that connecting point.com buys bandwidth or something from QWest.

Dude.. You need an Identity Management Solution... I can help.  :-)

I like the flexibility in my job. But it comes with consequences as well. I drive to Rochester, MN on Thursday, back on Friday, and take an 8am Flight to KC on Saturday for a 1 hour speaking engagement... then fly back. Boss told me to take a couple of days off and not record it. She's British, so he's big on vacation... er... "holiday."

Wow.  The crappy weather made the news today.  Try not to slide off the road or anything.

We have some old (old-looking, at least) software that I know nothing about.  I can copy and paste an entire page of data into it, but users have to be entered one at a time.  There's no way to import anything into it.

I'm not in Development or QA... programming is not my bag.  At least this doesn't happen often -- normally it's only a small handful or a couple dozen users at most.

That's probably an inner ear thing.  Maybe booze related.
