Give it up to Tebow .... and I wanted to dog him too.

Tim said, the better team won, they outplayed us, they were better prepared then we were, and I give them all the credit. very very rough quote

I am not thrilled with some of the hype that went with him but his comments showed me he was a "stand up guy," @ a very tough time.

3. yes he did

Because that is important to him and in nation founded on the freedom of religion that is his right and it should be respected too. If you don't like it or don't buy into the "big cloud guy story" let it go .... it is no big thing.

6. Understand that I mean this respectfully...but it seems to me there is little freedom to be irreligious. When I see a little bit of equality, I'll let it go. Until then, all I have to say is it seems to me that god maybe wanted his scripture back.

14. Botany...you simply MUST take a history class.

This country was only partly founded on someone's religious freedom-Puritans in the Massachusetts Bay Colony. They were NOT about granting religious freedom to Indians, other English (or Europeans)-which is why Rhode Island exists as a state.

And god forbid you were accused of witchcraft.

And, a full decade and a half BEFORE the Puritans set up their "city on a hill", a bunch of English men arrived in what is now Virginia, aiming to start a moneymaking colony to catch up to Spain and France. Not exactly based on religion, eh?

Finally, most, if not all of our FF's were deists-and "Christian in name only".

So, can the "this country was founded on religious freedom" meme. It wasn't and people are increasingly intolerant of relgious freedom.

I have little tolerance for a religion that decides that my mother and uncle, both of whom are gay, should burn in hell. Screw that! I have little tolerance for a religion that puts me and millions of other women below men.

What people are ribbing Tebow about is the spoiled, self-centered nature of his CRYING ON THE SIDELINE. He won 2 national championships and 1 Heisman trophy...and his crying made him look like a spoiled, sore loser.

I think that might be my longest Sports forum post. I don't typically have to give history lessons.

20. I have had the history classes too thank you very much

I wanted to dog Tebow too .... I was tired of the hype and the stories all about St. Tim of Gainsville and his over the top faith so when I saw him crying I got a little chuckle out of it but after hearing what he said right after the game I was impressed with his class and the way he gave all the credit to Alabama. His statement was hardly one of spoiled self centered sore loser.

Junto con ciencia también estudié cierta historia y español en “Harvard en el Hocking” aka Ohio University.

Yo tengo translation widget tambien.

22. Harvard on the Hocking...hah! That's pretty funny.

I didn't care for his statement, frankly, because I'm ambivalent about religion.

However, it was his bawling during the closing moments of the game that totally got me. I was an athlete growing up and my mom always taught me "don't be a sore loser", don't be a crybaby, show a little class when you lose (which he did through his speech, but not through his bawling).

He could have and probably should have simply held it together until the locker room.

And I went to one of those pseudo-Ivy's, too. Now I'm at a monster football school
Sorry to give you grief, I just can't handle the constant reiteration that the US was founded on religion...fortunately, I don't have to teach it anymore, as I'm getting a PhD in Latin America.

2. A lot of folks were calling him a puss in my bar, Botany.

Believe it or not, I came to his defense. One thing he isn't is a wuss. He is truly, a gamer. Still love to see him lose, though.

5. If the sportscasters didn't touch themselves every time he was on the field, I probably won't hate him so much.

9. If you really hate him it might be time to walk away form watching football.

Big time college is a multi billon dollar industry and selling the story line along
with the game makes the media money and that is sled dog pulling the sleigh.

11. did anyone else see tebow's mom and dad in the stands??

Yikes....she looked like she was a matron of some prison......very, very black hair pulled back and I think she was dressed in black also.... kinda creepy looking  and his father just looked terribly disappointed.

I dunno.  They look like a perfectly fine family to franksolich.

Which is somehow WRONG, but institutional indoctrination is just peachy-keen.  Little Goons are so transparent.

I detest the Gators, and rejoice every time they lose, but have great respect and admiration for Tim Tebow.
It seems like a quirk of nature that he's on that team.

Its the good old DU double standard kind of like dissent is patriotic (only when a repuke is in the white house) and free speech is a right for us all (unless you are on the radio or tv talking about conservative issues then you need to be silenced). How killing in war is a crime but killing the unborn is choice. Using capital punishment on murderers, terrorists etc is evil but lets hang Bush at the Hauge plus Rush, Hannity and Beck too for good measure.
I may not lock my doors while sitting at a red light and a black man is near, but I sure as hell grab on tight to my wallet when any democrats are close by.
