Tis the season...
« on: December 04, 2009, 10:25:52 PM »
for company parties...

Our office party is tomorrow night at a fancy bar downtown. It's not politically correct to not attend, so off to downtown Murder-apolis I go. Sadly, I'll get a lot of work done at the party.  :hyper:

Dress code is "Smart Casual," whatever that means. And drinking is not only expected, but encouraged. Going to be interesting as one of our new employees has decided I'm her new project...  :-)

What are your companies/families doing?

We had a Christmas party last year that I didn't make it to, being a new employee.  I haven't heard of any plans for this years get-together, so i have no idea whats happening.

At the place I used to work at, we had an annual Christmas luncheon at Buca's. I'd eat until I burst.... loved those garlic mashed potatoes....nom nom nom. My current employer is a small company and we usually get scrooge to pick up the bar tab at the local tavern where we down tap beer, eat popcorn and cheap pizza.... (seriously, the cheapest man on the planet... so cheap he screws his socks on in the morning...whatever that means  :-))

But I love the new place I work at... it's all about the people, isn't it?

I'd prefer if we had our party at 5-8 or Mark's or something. Last year it was on the top of the IDS and was FORMAL attire.

Is 5-8 that pub by Lake Nokomis? Where's Mark's?

I just remembered a few MNDot parties at the VFW.... They were bring your own bottle and they were way out of control.

Tuesday or Wednesday the office had a tree decorating party at lunchtime....I didn't go.

I think there will be a potluck lunch sometime before Christmas and several of us are doing a lunch at the Ronald McDonald house on the 17th, for the families.

Our company-wide event is usually in March...
Just hand over the chocolate...back away slowly...far away....and you won't get hurt....

I know of two 5-8 clubs. First is on Cedar just north of hwy 62. I think that's the original. There's another one in Champlin @ Zane and 109th Ave. They are famous for their Juicy Lucy's.

I think Marks - the original Jucy Lucy - is on Cedar and 35th AV S in mpls.

VFW's ROCK!

Yep, the 5-8 I know is the one on 62 and Cedar.

I agree, the uppity bars are just not my cup of tea. I would much rather drink a pitcher of beer and do arm farts in the corner with Chris.  :-)

lol... you lost me on the arm-farts... I'm a redneck, but I draw the line.  :-)

I have to be at Solera... going to be interesting. Wondering if they'll open the roof?

Just got back from our company Christmas party.  Decent food and a casino night staffed by co-workers.  I won $50K at the blackjack table, gave it to a friend with kids to bid on auction items.  Very tame.

Us contractors are having a pot-luck lunch on Monday, after which we will be worthless and wanting to do nothing but nap.
