It wasn't quite up to the level of outright teabaggery
The rightwing-in-laws descended for thanksgiving and I swear I did not start one of the fights. On the other hand I refused to shut up.

We could have retreated to the neutral corner of the widescreen tv and mindless football, but no we just had to sit around the table and my brother in law could not stop bringing up one rightwing screed after another.

The list.

Global Warming: not happening, big scam that it seems the evil AlGore is foisting on us poor global corporations for unknown motives that have to do with socialism. The fact that societies, governments, corporations etc. that reduce their carbon footprint by increasing their efficiency and utilizing renewable energy sources benefit with reduced costs and increased profitability should be ignored because it is inconvenient.

Hate Crime Laws: criminalize free speech. Yes of course lots of crimes, for example murder, have motive and context used to categorize crime and punishment, for example torturing your victims before you kill them generally qualifies you for the death penalty in states with the death penalty, but you know, if hate is used this way to categorize a crime then people go to jail for calling somebody a faggot. Or something like that. The logic escapes me and requires the proponent to continuously avoid the actual nature of hate crime laws and discuss instead hypothetical examples of people being put in jail for saying racist idiocy.

Guns: everyone everywhere should be carrying them. The 2nd amendment is about just that. and that first clause should be ignored, plus we need pistols in our pockets in case we have to overthrow the government, but keep ignoring that first clause.

Gays: no of course opposition to hate crime laws has nothing to do with homophobia but them gays shouldn't get married because we are a christian nation (rightwing-brother-in-law is devout practicing jew, go figure) and marriage is religious only even though you have to get a license from the state and no Loving v Virginia doesn't apply because that ain't the same as them gays and god is mentioned in the Declaration of Independence thus proving that we are a christian nation even though that document has no legal standing and the one that does and is the foundational document of our republic never mentions god and only mentions religion to forbid its institutionalization with the state.

Health care: well of course what we need is everyone on their own buying their own health care. No idea how people without enough money to buy insurance will get any, no idea how people with chronic diseases will get insurance, no idea how individual purchasers are going to get anything but screwed, but quite sure that despite all the data to the contrary, that universal government run system will result in higher costs and worse care. Canadians hate their health care system, which is why they all come here for breast implants, but there is no political opposition to their health care system in Canada, even within the rightwing parties, because crickets.

Iraq War a tremendous success but we can never leave and they voted with red fingers (purple but who cares) and peace and love and they attacked us and they had evil weapons etc. Nobody lied about anything.

Afghanistan War not so good because Obama has dithered for almost a year now but the prior six years of dithering shouldn't count.

We have been kept safe from terrorist attacks so WOT is doing its job.

So we didn't get to birf certificates or Fasci-commu-bamaism, but it was close.

1. I got a helping of "Obama is destroying our country" with my pumpkin pie last night.
Just a recap of the Glenn Beck Show from my father, nothing novel.

Now, that just warms the heart, to see the primitives being put into their places.

Strikes me that the DU's post constitutes a laundry list of the argument with his family he made up in his own mind after the spent the evening being polite because he was too scared to open his big fat mouth and risk getting chucked off the gravy-train.

I'm loving all these stories out of them today.  It shows that there are so many clear-thinking, decent conservative people out there, even though they're related to a DUmmie.  You spend too much time in the DUmp, and you can tend to forget that they are the kook fringe.

That's why the DUmmies are ALWAYS outcasts at...and gripe loud and long about...these kid of family gatherings.

Everyone else wants to eat themselves into a Trypto-coma...maybe watch a little TV...and all the DUmmie relative wants to do is let their inner BDS loose and ruin the entire event.

I realize that the primitives are predisposed to lying. I also realize that on a place such as the island one of the quickest ways for a DUmmie to generate street cred is to resort to fabricating fairy tales. It really is understandable. But do they have to insert family members into their fabricated stories? Granted, their fables would lose a small amount of effectiveness, but I think the loss would be too small to notice.

Their inclusion of family members in their tales just rubs me the wrong way. Haven't these family members suffered enough just being related to a primitive?

Think of it this way...Let's say there's a primitive named DUmmie_DoDo. He fabricates a nice long screed on DU about his "fundy, repug" family. Then, since the money he sucks from the government teat has arrived, he heads to the corner store to stock up on Cheetos. Soon after he leaves his mother heads down to his room in the basement to clean some of the filth and to spray some air freshner in an attempt to kill some of the smell. While down there she notices that DUmmie_DoDo has left his computer on the DU page showing his screed. She gets to read the trash that he has written.

This poor mother is already suffering with the knowledge that her son is nothing but a drain on society. She's also bearing the burden of feeding him and putting a room over his head, but despite his uselessness the mother still loves him because he's her son. Now on top of all of this she gets to see DUmmie_DoDo's fabricated DU screed that puts down her or her husband or some other member of her family who is actually living a productive life.

It's just wrong.

Along with being liars, most of the primitives are cowards. I suspect most of their families have no idea how depraved they are, since they only wave their internet penises around like Flag Girls in a marching band on DU and other similar sites.

That's not to say their families think they are either conservative people or politically agnostic -- I do suspect most of them defend Obama, and badmouth the previous administration in their families presence, but with nowhere near the fervor they display behind their screen names while online.

That's the great thing about us conservatives, we hate the sin, but love the sinner.  Libs just hate.

Hmmm, the talk at my Thanksgiving table didn't include rants from any family members....must be a bitch to be so obsesed in your hatred to bring it up. If there was any DUmbass in my family that were this way, they'd be told to stay away.

I've seen it happen.

There is usually booze involved.

My sister's mother in law was a Democrat & the father in law was a Republican....throw in about 20 house guests & it would often turn into a major war!  :rotf:
