Three words I thought this President was willing to say: "We were wrong."

Yeah, damn it---I'm that foolish. I had at least a little hope(remember that word?) that President Obama would be truly bold and announce an expeditious withdrawal of all or nearly all of our troops from Afghanistan.

I'd hoped he would say something like this:

"The whole world supported us when we came to Afghanistan eight years ago and everyone understood our mission. We soon abandoned that mission, however, and, for nearly seven years, we have remained in Afghanistan simply to avoid what some would label a 'retreat'. We are better than that. We will spend no more precious lives to avoid the supposed embarrassment of admitting a mistake.

We were not wrong to enter Afghanistan in pursuit of the cowardly criminals who murdered nearly 3000 innocents on September 11, 2009. But, we were wrong to be diverted from that just and sacred effort to further the imperialistic ambitions of those who knew all of the the pageantry of war, but not the taste of its blood, the smell of its smoke and the sound of its screams.

I am directing our orderly and safe withdrawal from Afghanistan to begin immediately and to be completed as soon as our resources and best efforts will permit. Not too soon will we turn the final page in this chapter of our nation's history."

That George W. Bush was a spineless fool with a shrivelled soul is no longer debatable. For us to risk one more life or spend one more dollar to avoid admitting that is simply inexcusable.

Bring 'em home ASAP. Use PART of the money saved to fund a good public option health care bill. Who loses in that scenario? (W. doesn't count)

Obama has no problem saying America was wrong. He went overseas and told the world how horrible we were until we elected him.

it is far too late. The corruption of Karzai is pretty obvious. Do we really need to support another puppet who will very likely become another dictator like Saddam Hussein? After all HE was also "our" puppet at one point. Then again - who trained Osama bin Laden - WE DID. hoo-rah! USAUSAUSAUSA!!!

:eyes:

Yet no call for impeachment.

What is it with jelly-spined liberals and their compulsive need to apologize for everything?

Pathetic.

The Narcissist would never say "we were wrong."  He might say, "you were wrong."  He has said, "America was wrong."  But The Narcissist would never implicate himself.

Just like DUmmies will never say, "we were wrong."  The very idea is alien to them.  Liberals are the smartest people on earth, you know.  By definition they can never be wrong.

They believe that the U.S. is always wrong...never right...and only they understand that and are able put aside typical American arrogance and apologize for everything we've done to insult the world since 1775.

Good point.  :cheersmate:

They truly believe that every evil in the world was at the hands of white Americans. They act as if we invented slavery when the truth is slavery was part of the African culture that's how we got the slaves in the first place. They act as if we invented war when the Indian tribes here fought amongst themselves long before the white man showed up. Yeah some people in our history did some things wrong but, we did a lot right too. Sadly they are trying like hell to destroy what we got right.

Obama definitely isn't the man for it, but what we need a President to say is more like these four words:   "Don't **** with us."

Okay, let me see if I understand this...Going into Afghanistan was a noble endeavor but we took our eye off the ball. So, instead of putting our military might in that theater the solution is...to pull out? Isn't that a little like a t-ball team deciding not to play the game because a few of it's players are late? That's just beyond stupid.

No, no, no, you got it all wrong. We went into Afghanistan for the oil and the pipeline, so Cheney would not have to work after leaving office.

We're going to need a president willing to kick some leaders in the nuts, figuratively if not literally, to get their respect back after the 0Bamanation leaves office.
