Reagan honed his political beliefs and speaking ability on speaking tours for G.E.

Your point?

When in doubt, invoke Reagan.

Yeah cuz we all know all she is doing is going around saying hope and change reading from a teleprompter.  :whatever:

Palin is the first person in awhile to energize the conservatives and there is a reason. She talks a good talk and we would love to give her a chance to see if she walks the walk. Not to mention the meltdown at the DUmp when she is sworn in.  :-)

If running for president is "walking the walk," forget it. It's not going to happen. She'll write Facebook posts and appear on talk shows. NTTAWWT.

She rattles off a bunch of soundbites.

You're projecting. Immensely.

I'm so glad that "conservatives" sound so much like the liberals they despise. NOT.

Nothing untrue in what I said. If there were, it's about time you start qualifying your point lest you look like a complete and total ****ing moron.

Don't be obtuse. She's not the hypocrite. The people who elevate he to Godhood are.

No one is elevating her to godhood.  The Obamabots have a lock on that.  I'd have to say that you have started more Palin threads percentage wise than any member of this board.  How many threads have you started and and how many have been about Palin?

It must be that love/hate relationship you have with her.

Palin is OK. She's just human. It's really the people who think she's more than human that I have the big problems with.

Sounds like you have an axe to grind with Palin.  You can dislike her for whatever reason as it is your  right to do so.. but assuming we have a god-like admiration for her  just because we may agree with her political views is simply stupid and unwarranted.  No one here is expecting Palin to part the seas or walk on water, but her views [on gun control, energy in-dependency, pro-life stance, anti-tax, anti big governement etc.] are alligned with myself and many members on this board.

What exactly is your purpose here..to malign Palin??? well, I'll let you in on a little secret.  It's not working. :-)

I admit that I got on the Palin bandwagon, at first, because she pissed off all the right people.

I admit that I don't know if she is qualified to be the next POTUS. (I supported her for VP with 4 years to learn)

I admit she may not be the best candidate in 2012. Time will tell.

...

I know she represents what America was founded on.

- The idea that our leaders should come from the common citizens
- The idea that small government is the best government
- The idea that capitalism is a moral ideal

I know that Obama has yet to provide any proof that he is smarter than the average bear.

- What were his grades in college?
- What has he done to improve the economy?
- What has he done in foreign relations?

I know Palin walks the walk

- She has a track record of taking on her own party.
- She has more common sense than anyone in Congress
- She has no record of backtracking on her promises like Obama has

I know she would be a better POTUS than anyone since Ronaldus Maximous. Hands down. Not perfect. Not "great". Just better.
I know she has a deep and endearing love of what this country was meant to be. I don't know that about Obama.
"When you see that trading is done, not by consent, but by compulsion - when you see that in order to produce, you need to obtain permission from men who produce nothing - when you see that money is flowing to those who deal, not in goods, but in favors - when you see that men get richer by graft and by pull than by work, and your laws don't protect you against them, but protect them against you - when you see corruption being rewarded and honesty becoming a self-sacrifice - you may know that your society is doomed."

And who exactly would that be? Are you trying to say we need to be more like McLame and his ilk and less like Reagan?  You're making the same argument against Palin that the Libs do against the 40th President.

Seriously, I have no idea what you're talking about.  I read a variety of political sites, have friends and family of differing political views and I have not once seen any hint of Palinmania or the godhood-making to which you refer.  I've heard a lot of conservatives and some Republicans say they are thankful for her speaking out on their behalf, but that's hardly worship.

What I do see and hear on a daily basis is the infallibility of the Lord O, although the bloom is starting to fade from that rose for some.  I also see and hear the same level of hatred directed at Palin from 'progressives' that was directed at GWB for years.

If there was hypocrisy I'd be the first to point it out, but it's a figment of your imagination.

When did popularity become a rote disqualifier from public discourse?

Near as I can tell Palin isn't peddling snake oil like Owl Gore and she is chasing the looney vote like Ron Paul.

I think her resignation was a gift to any opposition she may encounter were she ever to run for office again but I think she's more interested in being a king-maker rather than serving as queen.
According to the Bible, "know" means "yes."

It must be that love/hate relationship you have with her.

Bingo.

He loves to hate her and what she represents - the sort of spirit that says:

"We don't need no stinkin' politicians stealing our money, our honor, and our way of life. We don't need socialism in this country because we've seen how wasteful, corrupt, and bureaucratic it is. We don't need politicians who are concerned with themselves and their political careers above all else. We don't need to be told what's best for us and we don't need government handouts. We're capable, reasonably intelligent, and are able to discern for ourselves what is best for us. Furthermore, we despise those who cannot think for themselves, who demand government handouts, special treatment, and who demand we accept their aberrant and filthy lifestyles. We cherish life and protect it best we can, we help those who can and do help themselves, and we appreciate and respect our neighbor's property.

Sarah Palin says, "I don't need no stinkin' political office to be an effective conservative and I will speak the thoughts that I previously have NOT been able to articulate because of that political office.

"I believe in the power of the American people to self-determination and the role of government to be subservient to that self-determination. I believe that the government has grown far beyond the intents and purposes as laid out by the FF and as as result, it is bloated, inept, and unable to serve the people in the manner that the Constitution demands.

"I believe it is past time for lame and feeble attempts to "meet others in the middle" and to demand from our government what the majority of the citizens of this country have already articulated: No TARP, no bailouts,
no government dictating in GM, the financial markets/industry, or healthcare.

Sarah Palin says, "I want the government to stay the hell out of my life and give me back my freedom to do as I wish, within the confines of the Constitution, the supreme law of the land."

That's not putting her on a pedestal, that's just common sense.
