BREAKING: San Diego ACORN Document Dump Scandal
« on: November 23, 2009, 12:01:27 PM »
Quote
On October 1st, 2009 California Attorney General Jerry Brown announced that an investigation had been opened into ACORN’s activities in California, resulting from undercover videos showing employees seemingly offering to assist the undercover film makers with human smuggling, child prostitution and even tax advice to boot.

Although ACORN has denied any wrongdoing, some of the employees involved were terminated, and ACORN has publicly stated that they would fully cooperate with any investigations that followed.

Interestingly, the local head ACORN organizer in California, David Lagstein was caught on tape earlier this month speaking to an East County Democratic Club.

Mr. Lagstein stated: “…the attorney general is a political animal, but certainly every bit of the communication we have had with them has suggested that the fault will be found with the people that did the video and not the people with ACORN.”

Continuing, Mr. Lagstein stated: “…we are fully cooperating, some of the investigators visited our office this morning and I think they really understand what’s going on.”

Shockingly, we now learn that the ACORN office in National City (San Diego County) engaged in a massive document dump on the evening of October 9th, containing thousands upon thousands of sensitive documents, just days prior to the Attorney General’s visit.

BigGovernment.com has learned that not only did this document dump occur, but the documents in question were irresponsibly and brazenly dumped in a public dumpster, without considering laws and regulations as to how sensitive information should be treated.

I am a local licensed private investigator. I took it upon myself to keep an eye on what the local ACORN office was up to, in light of the release of the undercover videos. I retrieved these documents from the public dumpster. ...

He should put up a billboard across the street from the headquarters advertising to the employees of acorn 1) that their civil rights were violated and 2) they can get lots of money from Acorn in a lawsuit.

and I don't believe Acorn can hide behind corporate shells on this one either.

I can see the add (Both English and Spanish) Call this number if you want money from Acorn.  They seem to be a wonderful outfit to work for, and I am sure they have lots and lots and lots and lots of really pissed former employees.

Lemme see if I'm tracking:

ACORN took thousands of potentially incriminating documents and in an effort to obstruct justice and without regard to legitmate client privacy they dumped the documents in a public dumpster where this PI has intercepted them and is preparing to release them?
According to the Bible, "know" means "yes."

I think the PI will get arrested for stealing them before the AG goes after Acorn for dumping them.

But dumping that kind of information is a felony in itself.  First, they knew the AG was going to visit, so that is one felony, and the confidential info part is another.

I don't believe Jerry Brown would or could now (because the evidence is tainted in the chain of control ) use any of this stuff for a criminal investigation.  But the lawsuits on this would be great.

Especially since it would wind up bursting quite a few corporate shells for other lawsuits if the stuff shows there was not any real difference between acorn tweedledee and acorn tweedledum.

The PI stated that the dumpster "was public" meaning, of course, that the PI didn't have to break a lock or otherwise circumvent security systems.

The photo in the article shows the dumpster behind a cage, but I can't tell if the cage was locked or not.

Your point is certainly clear though - where the PI points a finger, the attempt to deflect and otherwise accuse the accuser of violating the law is certainly a tactic that they'll most definitely use.

something I missed when I read the thing the first time

Do you want to explain that remark?

Also check out the hiring documents for the Acorn employee.   The I9 cert by the boss is signed 10 days prior to the sig by the employee.   That probably means he signed off on the forms in batches  before the employees actually came in.

Now I am offering book on whether the INS actually visits a single Acorn office because of this.  Odds of a 1000-1 folks, step right up.
