God I love this economy... losing my job after a few months
Well I just was informed today I am being "surplussed" (laid off) shortly after only a few months of employment.

Freaking wonderful.

That probationary period is just so unreasonable. I wonder if DUmmy Twix got canned again for arrogant insubordination, or if it was one of those intrusive, unreasonable drug tests.

M_o_L sounds like a thoroughly pleasant person.  I'm not surprised nobody wants to hire her.

I think that some of the people graduating from school think that they are entitled to a job.  They forget that the employer owns the job, not the other way around.  I hire you to do something that I want done, you prove to me that you will be the best for me to make more money for my company, to advance the business.  It is not my job to provide employment, it is my job to make money, that that money I expand my business, expand my work force.  And if I am in the business of making switches for the electrical grid, I have NO NEED for someone with a degree in woman's studies.

Also these idiots need to realize that anytime they advocate taxing  evil cooporations, they are taking money away from profits and job creation.  but they do not see that.

I KNOW some folks feel entitled to jobs because of their level of education.  And not just any jobs but the higher paying/less physical kind of jobs.

Hmmmm it wasn't let me type in that last reply I just posted.  I'll put the rest of it here.

I have a BIL who was mortified to learn I made more money than he did.  He was a junior level executive at a TV station and I was a welder.  He was a little pissed but I told him he could come on the road with me and I would teach him to build tanks ... he declined.

I had a good friend who has his bachelor in computer science.  He told me once that he didn't think it was right that I made more money than he did.  He said he had sacrificed 4 years of his life to earn his degree and he felt anyone who did that deserved to make more money than those who had no diploma or only a HS diploma.  He knew me when I was a welder, he knew me when I first got in sales.  He liked me a LOT more when I first got in sales because then I wasn't making as much as he was.  As I grew in sales he got to where he didn't want to talk about anything except how much money he wasn't making and how much he hated his job.  When I moved into management he was jealous.  When I moved into a better sales job he felt like I had caught a lucky break.

Guess he never heard;  LUCK is preparation meeting opportunity.

I like to see successful people and I don't care what they are successful at.  If I can learn to do what they do that is where I want to be.

How is AT&T Uverse doing? It sounds superior in some ways, being able to watch on any TV in the house something recorded on another TV's DVR. But its Twixvoy, not Uverse, that is the problem.Twixvoy probably either did not show up for work, did a poor job, did the minimum work at minimum speed while complaining constantly... or something else. I doubt the economy had anything to do with it other than companies not being able to carry any dead weight any longer.

Remember when the Twix candy bar primitive complained about that racist rich woman who lives in a mansion, and was upset that she couldn't get her internet service restored now?

I'll bet the kaput primitive, the "kpete" primitive, had something to do with the Twix candy bar primitive's shortevity in this career.

Oh lord that is hilarious..... :rotf:  Twit getting canned after a few weeks and especially after this post:

Quote
I work at a major telecom these days. I can wire a network interface device, work with twisted pair wires, send VDSL signals from point to point, wire service area interface boxes, and a ton of other things after just 6 months of on the job practice and reading on my own time. I am working next to people with degrees in telecommunications who can barely figure it the **** out and actually CALL ME ON MY CELL PHONE during the work day several times a day asking me how to do something. And I am the one who has no degree at all. Go figure.

So Twit was as good at telephone repair as he was stocking shelved at Target.   :loser:

I'm a recent college graduate myself, and I hear a lot of that from my former classmates - bemoaning the fact that there aren't jobs available for people with impractical liberal-arts degrees.  It's bullsh*t - they're not getting jobs because they're either too lazy to do the legwork, or they don't know how to interview, or else that entitlement attitude must come out pretty strong during the interview process.

I live in Rhode Island, a state that's consistently in the top 5 for unemployment rates, and with nothing but a fresh degree in math and philosophy, and the work experience I got while putting myself through college, I landed myself a permenant position with the biggest company in the state - and I was only interviewing for a temporary position, mind you, but I was offered a permenant position right off the bat.

If those sniveling, whining, Obama-voting children would drop the entitlement attitude, realize that nobody owes them anything, and come to grips with the fact that a piece of paper doesn't mean they don't have to start from the bottom and work their way up, they'd be gainfully employed by now too.

It's always tough to get "let go" but TwixVoy is so irritating I actually chuckled at this.

11. My doctorate and $3 will get me a cup of coffee at Fourbucks.
 Unemployed and not looking anymore.

Last job I had was a temp job for nine days in the summer of 2001.

There are a lot of losers at DU but I thought this is an indication of your typical dummy.
