How can one, therefore, be surprised that a meeting of the Tiburon Town Council voted on Wednesday by 4 to 0 to install cameras to photograph every single car that enters or leaves this little Disneyland?

The San Francisco Chronicle reported that this may be the first community in the country to have defended itself with cameras in such a way. The idea is to photograph the license plates of every car that treads Tiburon's hallowed roads and compare the information with the police's list of the stolen and nefarious.

The Tiburon police chief, Michael Cronin, told the Chronicle: "I think it makes the community safer."

There are certainly even more definitions of the word "safety" than of the word "twee." However, it is heartwarming that the Tiburon police--inspired, perhaps, by Google--promise that the information will be kept for only 30 days.

I wonder how TiT figures into this...

Tom was one of Frank's favorite posters.  Partly, I think for his posting on a newsgroup that he was stealing from the till on a regular basis.   The Dump seemed to admire him for his felonies.

IIRC he got in trouble for encouraging the Palestinians to continue the job Hitler started.

He showed up under another name and so far as I know, his new identity is still posting.

I don't believe he ever actually lived there though.  His real residence is probably the Rio Linda area of Sacramento.

Really?  I remember he showed up under some name like Absentee Wino in the Lounge and got banned in about 48 hours.  I didn't know he had come back.

I haven't been able to DUmpster dive as much as I used to, but I also didn't think he was back.  Perhaps someone more knowledgeable could enlighten us.

I remember him coming back. I didn't see  he got banned again.

Guy was an amain piece of work anyway.

Weather he has ever been in Tiberon is kind of moot anyway.   I never got there myself.   When I lived in SF I hiked to Sausalito and back.  As much as I wanted to see of the place
