If I see a "Psalm 109:8" bumper sticker can I turn them in?
for threatening the President?
You can try. It won't go anywhere and will only waste manpower, money and resources.

Do we?

13. it says to make his days short
it doesn't say anything about doing violence on anyone? overreact much? as if someone would put a threat to the physical person of the president on their car...
But the other DUmmies will have none of that!

fatherless. Looks like a threat to me. It specifically states "Pray for Obama."

16. i understand that and there ARE a FEW people
who will read the next verse or previous to put in context. However, the people that are likely to slap that on a bumper (or teddy bear for that matter) will not likely look at the context and just go with the sentiment expressed in the one snippet they have. You know they cherry-pick for everything else...why not this?
they don't mean any harm (physically)...at least most of them don't...and the problem is that you cannot distinguish in most cases the nut who WOULD do something stupid and the nut who just IS stupid...
But it falls on deaf ears.
Here's one that sounds like an urban legend:

5. Why ?
The entirity of DU were saying the same thing about Bush for eight years. They are allowed their opinion.
The psalm, on face value, isn't a threat. Now I am not saying that there may be some who think the worst but it would be kind of hard to prove.
But deaf ears and outright lies prevail again:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.ph...
I agree it will be difficult to prove malintent, but I think the FBI should become aware of these groups. It only takes one crazy prodded on by the mass paranoia to become a threat.

11. You are wrong. While there might have been a small minority here who
wanted to see Bush & Cheney dead, and few others would cry if it happened, the VAST majority just wanted to see them in prison where they belong.

14. Sorry, I do not remember folks wishing Bush dead
his wife an orphan and his children without a father.
I do remember most wishing him impeached.
Even now I believe most would like to see him tried for crimes committed as president.
So may I ask if you have proof of DUers wishing Bush dead?

17. No one was saying they wanted Bush* to be harmed...
No one.... Making threats against the President or anyone, for that matter is not tolerated on DU, which is both Skinner policy and echos the views of the membership. We wanted the Bushies* judicially tried for their crimes--not hurt. Show me one, just one post or thread that backs your point.

24. FAIL.
We were NOT wishing Bush dead. Not one liberal I know ever, EVER prayed for his death.
Impeachment, yes, for lying the nation into war and not being elected in the first place.

26. actually there were a few posts here
albeit a very few that could have been interpreted as wishing to harm the president or conduct armed revolution. and rightly so, the admins and mods immediately removed them.
when you have over 150,000 people who have registered and maybe posted on this board from time to time you are bound to have a couple of nuts...
That is true, and it dovetails nicely into hlthe2b's post above.

30. While we wanted him out of office in the worst way.
We were very careful to not intone the threat of violence.
This is a not-so-subtle dog whistle referencing assassination. What else can you draw from "fatherless" and "widow"?
If you weren't wishing him dead, why would you need to be "very careful not to intone the threat of violence." Sounds to me like you were secretly wishing violence (which you were, as we all know).

8. Here is what I would do: leave a note on their car *saying* you reported them.
I don't think the SS truly needs to investigate somebody who is "praying for" those nasty things, but it sure wouldn't hurt to make the point to the owners of the bumper sticker, about how sick they are. And if it frightens them... that's gravy.
Yeah, whatever. Enjoy your gravy fantasy.

20. I will take down every license plate number and
turn them in - they are actively inciting violence to the President of the United States. The R's would not have stood for this when it was their guy.
I had a bumper sticker on my car during the last administration that said "Support Our Troops - Impeach (striked out) and IMPRISION (in its place) George W. Bush - and beleive me - I got cussed out & flipped off quite a bit. I'm in red country.

39. the FBI won't be calling...
there is simply no reason for them to call. the people putting this on their car (at least the VAST majority) have no desire commit any sort of violence against the president. most of them would never read beyond the end of that verse and have no idea that the word widow even appears in context.
Poor guy.

41. dial 911
Or your local non emergency number for the local police. If it's a credible threat in your eyes, do you really wanna risk what may happen in the time it takes the Secret Service to send some agents out to investigate? The local police would be able to at least monitor the driver, if not pick them up for questioning and hold them in a secure location for the amount of time it takes for the proper federal agency to investigate.
I suppose if the concern is too acute, you could make a citizens arrest and hold them until help arrives.
Let us know if you see one, and what happens.....
Yes, please. Call 911 for EVERY bumper sticker you see. Make sure to tie up the emergency line with your complaints. Someone's bound to eventually notice and take action. (Might not be the action you want, though.)
Aw, PJM is trying to spoil it with sense again:

The Secret Service has enough on its plate investigating serious threats without being bombarded with reports of enigmatic bumper stickers.
I wonder how many obviously threatening bumper stickers directed at GWB the DUmmies had/still have on their vehicles.
