59% of GOP Voters Say Palin Shares Their Values
« on: November 16, 2009, 07:09:22 PM »
Quote
Fifty-nine percent (59%) of Republican voters say former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin shares the values of most GOP voters throughout the nation.
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that just 21% of Republican voters disagree and think the 2008 vice presidential candidate does not share their values. Twenty percent (20%) are undecided.

By contrast, 74% of Republicans say their party’s representatives in Congress have lost touch with GOP voters nationwide over the past several years. Only 18% of Republican voters believe their elected officials have done a good job representing the base.

The findings in these two surveys highlight the political debate within the Republican Party. Party leaders worry that Palin is pushing the GOP too far to the right to win general elections by aligning herself with Tea Party voters frustrated with both parties in Washington and the big government policies they have produced.

Still, just 18% of Republicans - and 26% of voters nationwide - see Palin as a divisive force within the GOP. A plurality believes Palin is representative of a new direction for the Republican Party. That view is held by 57% of Republicans and 41% of all voters. A plurality of Democrats aren’t sure what to think of Palin’s role within the opposing party.

Unless the GOP leadership starts listening to the conservative base, I do not see any big gains for conservatives in next years elections.

Exactly.

Hi,

Dick Morris said it best on Hannity tonight.  He said the reason the left is so hell-bent on destroying Palin is because they have always counted on the women's vote as democratic.  They fear she will move a lot of women to the republican side of the aisle so they have to do everything they can to destroy her.

He also went on about attorney general Gonzales, they generally control the hispanic vote and guys like him who are republican have to be destroyed out of fear he might erode what the libs consider their God-given base.

As hard as I try, I just can't get my mind wrapped around any other GOP "hopeful".  Sarah's such a refreshing breath of fresh air in politics, with a resume stronger than the current Prez and Veep...combined.

For that matter, anyone else.

I agree 100% with you :II:

Although I find some things about her a bit disconcerting, I agree with you.  The GOP needs someone with "star power" that will capture the attention of the vast quantity of voters that are really not involved in politics on a daily basis, and Sarah has that going for her.   The party has to stop trotting out a bunch of boring retreads every election season if they expect to win.....

This is the EXACT reason that we have the president that we have today......although he doesn't appeal to US......he did appeal to millions of others, which is what I said when he was nominated.....forget his lack of experience, or his warped ideology, the bulk of the voters didn't see any of that (nor did they care)......the electorate saw a eloquent young black man......a "shiny object" so to speak, and that is why he won.........

Morris could almost not control his hatefull sputtering last night. He seems like he wanted to call her a dumb ****ing bitch, and could barely control himself. I've watched him many times before and this time you could just feel the hate coming off him.

For the left to hate her that much makes me like her even more.

I listened to part of Rush's interview today with Sarah....I'm very impressed.  If anyone could go up against the Bronze Statue, she can.  Unfortunately, the media's assault just may be successful in destroying her....even turning conservatives and republicans away.

And despite what her reasons are, I am still critical of her decision to step down as Alaska's governor....and the left will remind voters of this every minute of every day.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle
