poll: office Christmas parties

"Early" means the 15th of the month or sooner; "late" means the 15th of the month or later.

I'm going to an office Christmas party tonight (Sunday evening, November 15th).

This cattleman--I'm not an employee of his; he just rents this place, owned by someone else, on my behalf--does this every year, the first half of November.

Nothing wrong with that, because people's schedules tend to get jammed up after Thanksgiving.  Also, it's good to get the Christmas bonuses this far ahead.

I thought I'd pull a greenbriar, and boast about how good I have it.

WE no longer have one at work due to the fact that they were just large drinking parties, and they decided it was too risky.  They used to be held about a week before Christmas.

I don't remember when last year's party was, so I had to guess. 

I may drop by this year.  Or not.

We usually have a small catered lunch brought in during the Christmas week for everyone.  With additional catering for those working Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

No official office party though.  Unofficially, we take our coffee fund profits and buy a decent pub dinner or steak roast twice a year.  Usually throwing together an unofficial company Christmas party via that, along with another gathering in the summer.

We have a catered lunch for entire Department during work hours 2 weeks before Christmas.  The hospital also held a large bash at a Fancy Hall for many years.  This year, they will not have one because of money issues.  But we are still getting a bonus.

We usually get together at a steakhouse, with a big table reserved, on the Thursday night before Christmas week.

My company usually holds them at some downtown bar.  From what I heard, the drinks are watered down and overpriced.

I work for a 24x7 call center.  We don't do anything off site.  We give everyone a choice of a "holiday gift" the week before Thanksgiving~  Turkey, Ham, 3 Pies, Fruit Basket.  The day before Thanksgiving each dept gets pies to share during work.  On Christmas, we have a holiday meal catered for us, usually the week before Christmas week.  Which is no easy task, as we have 700+ employees.  We also have a choir, a floor decoration contest, and we have children from the special needs school come for a tour.  Oh yeah, and the company gives out $20K in donations to local charities.

My office usually has a "tree decorating party" early in the month that's in the late afternoon.

Then closer to Christmas, we have a Christmas lunch. Office provided ham and turkey, and everyone brings something. Tomorrow is our Thanksgiving lunch done the same way.

I think we have about 80-100 or so agents in our office now....it varies as we are all independent contractors and there are those who leave for one reason or another, and those that come from other offices within the company or other companies, and some that are right out of real estate school.

Our company cancelled X-Mas parties last year because of the "tough economic times". 

That also happened to be the same day they announced a record profit quarter of $774 MILLION dollars the previous quarter.

The company made "only" $533 M in profit last quarter, so you know there won't be a party this year, either.

We've got some people looking into getting a hall and doing that--no "big-wig" speeches, no hob-nobbing, just going out for the evening.

Mr Flame's office had a party...this year it's Dec 12th, but we can't go...same night as Nutcracker.

It's fun..usually go to a fancy type restaurant, and do a white elephant gift exchange.  Helps that the people he works with are all pretty cool (the couple of jerks don't come, anyway).

We didn't have one last year, and we aren't expecting to have one this year because of the Economy.

Before that there was dinner, dancing and drinks in a hotel ballroom.  I think it was mid-December

Ours is December 5th.  I've never gone to one in 22 years, can't see myself going this year.

I had forgotten that we still have a sort of Christmas party. It's a company awards dinner that is only open to employees with 5 years at the company. They hold it at one of the two local country clubs. I HAVE to attend this year since I've been there 20 years.
