I was almost killed this morning. Now my back hurts like crazy, will I be responsible for $ if ER?

Okay,

so for some strange reason, my cat peed on my bed this morning. He had never ever done that before but it angered me that on my day off I had to get up at 7:30 AM to take care of this. I get up, stick the sheets in the washer and grab my laundry soap and the bed comforter. I look up 3 laundry mats that are near my home, grab a stack of quarters and head out the door.

I find the first laundry mat and it is within a few blocks from my home and it looks okay. (understand that my house is 1/2 way between the "bad" area of Wichita and the "good" area...it could be a crap shoot as to safety.)

I go in with my breakfast a book and the comforter and after finding the biggest front load commercial washer and spending 4.50 for the washer get it going and sit down to eat my breakfast and read my book while the magical washer cleans the cat pee out of my comforter. The front of the laundry mat where I was sitting is built with huge plate glass windows and decorative (probably preventative too) bars. There are 3 chairs so I take the end one farthest from the door.

All is good and after only 20 minutes or so, the washer stops. I get up and right across the room is the perfect huge dryer and it is 8 minutes for a quarter. I put a dollar in and sit down, this time in the middle chair against the windows because the other chair I had been sitting in wasn't that great and the middle chair looked better.

About 10 minutes into the dry cycle, something went wrong. I do not know if I heard it, felt it or what, but I stood up and screamed as a car backed into the windows I was sitting at. Had I stayed sitting in the first chair I would be dead or severely injured right now because huge chunks of glass ended up in that chair. The chair I was in had little shards all over it and me and it was pushed 6-12 inches from the starting position.

The driver of the car RAN and left his girl there to deal with the mess.

I was offered an EMS ride which I refused after the police checked my back to make sure I was not cut up.

I came home, took a shower and had hubby check me over. I have little red spots all over my left back/shoulder area and my back is jacked up but otherwise I am fine. It could have been MUCH worse!

Would be curious if there is any news write up of this event.

Anyways...
She says her back hurts like crazy but admits in her post that she wasn`t involved in the accident so what the?
I see a disability scam and lots of pity me threads on the horizon.

5. I have a case number and pictures
I took a 1/2 pain pill and plan to take a nap, if after the nap I am still sore, maybe I need to go

I was not hit with the car, just a lot of glass so I don't really know why my back woudl be jarred?

but the chair I was sitting in is 6-12 inches further than it was...don't know if I did it when I ran, or was it pushed from the hit...I just don't know

Guess you lurk here greenbriar so just a question.

How does it feel to be a lying piece of shit?

a google search for "laundromat car wreck" under news only showed on in Fort Collins, CO. and the place didn't have bars on the window.

I'm not sure I'd have went in a place that had bars on the windows.

I'd check the Wichita papers tomorrow. If this happened today, the Sunday paper would be the earliest it would get reported. Depending on when they run their "police blotter" column, it could even take a week. This doesn't sound like the crime of the century, even on a slow news day.

What is a laundry mat?

One of those mats one places on the floor in front of the washing-machine in the utility room, perhaps?

2. will try to post pictures later
I have pictures of the window and the car and the chairs, but don't know how to download them from my phone

Hubby said he would help me download them but right now he is doing the "winterize" stuff on the outdoor hoses and hot tub.

It kills me she's a teacher.

She could have well strained her back jumping up. It is common when you suddenly move under stress to do such a thing.

Great thing about back injuries is they are very very hard to prove....or not prove.

What?!?!?!

With all of her riches she doesn't have a washer and dryer at home?  I say this really did happen but she was just driving by the place as it happened and decided to make herself part of the story.  She's pretty dumb but I would think even she would know this is a verifiable story or not.

Not to defend the plagiarizing primitive but it could be the comforter was too big for a standard size washer. However she has a track record of stretching the truth just a bit.  :-)

She's so desperate for attention that she started a spin-off thread of her original thread (that has since been pushed into the lounge).  She's nuttier than hell, I feel bad for her family.

That's awesome - Unlike at DU, she can sign up and post here, and not get banned unless she goes troll. Its obvious she knows we are here, so she should come on by. If I arrived at DU and opened up with " Hi ! I'm Miskie ", as an introduction ,that would be my last post there.

I doubt most of us would even get that far.  I've been quoted over there a couple of times, so I discovered.

I can wash my comforters and sheets at home but then again, I have a very expensive washer and dryer set.  My very handsome and wealthy husband and I have a king size bed, which was also very expensive, and I use only the best linens and comforters on them (and they are very expensive, too) and I'm still able to wash them at home.  However, sometimes I'm just not in the mood to turn the dials on the washer and dryer and I will just throw the dirty linens away and buy new ones, just for the fun of it; especially if our maid who lives in the very expensive guest house, is out of town, why should I bother with doing such menial chores?

I have shopping for very expensive Coach purses to do, and looking at new very expensive cruises to go on.  And jewelry? I love expensive jewelry.  I have a $10,000 allowance per month at Tiffany's in New York.  Did I tell you all we bought a personal jet just so I can make my weekly trips across the country to shop?  It was very expensive.

Isn't capitalism great?  But I still visit the food bank every once in awhile, just to mingle with the little people.

 :ohsnap:

ATTN Greenbrier:  Your conflicting stories about how much money you have, how great your husband is, and what a great teacher you are do not make sense.  Your grammar is atrocious, especially for a teacher, and no one is impressed with fake Coach purses and all the cruises you profess to go on, while complaining about having no money.  No one is impressed.  In fact, you are one of the favorite DUmmies of all time because of the things you post.  We all cheer for Tangerine LaBamba when she calls you out on your stories.  We miss her.

You see - very few of you at the DUmp make sense.  Your grasp of American history is greatly lacking and you are hypocrites.  And the blame games you all play are beyond ridiculous.
