Well I traded a beautiful day yesterday for a nippy, rainy one today--typical start to spring in the Ohio valley, but this means the trees will be blossoming in no time and the flowers wills start to peek their pretty heads.

I figure it was a good day to workout a little later in the am so I'm taking my youngest to the gym's daycare and going to workout sometime this morning and look out on the rain. At least we had a stellar day at the park yesterday.

Other then that my break semester is nearing an end. Once the kids return from their spring break at the end of the month it will be the start of two hell semesters with me--about 16 credits each.  But I will have the 2 year degree instead of the transfer credits and will be starting the next leg of the education...woohoo.

TOTD: What is the most drastic action that you've taken this year to improve your health?

I've gone all out...working out about 90 minutes, 6 days a week--eating habits have totally changed--not a diet, I just eat very different and I've also decided this is the year to get the whole slew of medical workups and be sure nothing is going on or improve the things that are and God-willing I have not let anything go beyond repair and nothing serious is stirring.

Very bizarre weather today--25 degrees at the house, 50 by the time I got to work (hopefully some of that will hit my place and melt the snow off the roof).  However, freezing rain/ice by tonight into tomorrow morning.

TOTD: 45 minutes 4 times a week and I need to do more.

TOTD:  drastic action to improve my health ususally involves surgical orthopedic repair.  Not in my plans this year, and hope it stays that way.

Mr Flame was sick, and it seems like I had appointments, etc out the ying yang.   I want to just chill!!


Good news, though!  If you recall my rant a month or so back, I was complaining about schools/testing ,etc.  Well, they did some additional testing for my youngest, and he showed what I've been trying to tell them all along.  He scored at a 99.9% (national averages) in math and at a 97% in reading/language, and at 98% in general knowledge (science, social studies, etc).  He's now eligible for the gifted program at school, which, while not perfect (only a couple days a week for an hour or so), it's better than nothing, and they are considering advancing him in math next year. 

Also, did my good deed yesterday...we went for a walk yesterday evening with all the kids and the dogs, and there was a cute little Westie running around loose...no one knew where it belonged.  We spent 45 minutes walking through the neighborhood with the little doggie, asking people we saw if they knew who she belonged to, and finally found her owners.    On a side note, I hate people that let their dogs run loose.  Her owner said, when we found her "OH, you  found her...she ran away from me, and I told my neighbers to keep an eye out for her",  but she wasn't out looking!!  She was younger, too, in her 20's.  But sheesh....if the dog runs away, at least get in the car and drive around and look for her!!


TOTD:  I've never done anything really drastic...not my style.

Lovely spring day here. I am 'working' from home.  Which was going really well until I  finished my one urgent project then it tailed off a bit. 

TOTD: I have added a couple of miles of walking to my usual journey to work because I don't have a schedule which allows for regular exercise.

Right now, it's in the upper 20s, and partly cloudy.

Some forecasts say "rain and snow (but not much)" the next few days; other forecasts say "sunny and warm."

Someone's going to be right, and I wish I knew which one, because I'd like to start taking down the winter windows here.

Well, I just took the lab practical.  I'm not happy with how I did. 

I have a WHOLE lot of work to do today.   Have to type up one more paragraph, then heavily edit the entire essay for my Political History class.   Then, study for the regular Bio test on Thursday.

TOTD:  I haven't done anything radical this year (except for altering my diet so my body can keep up with all the physical work I do at my job).
In the past, I've undergone jaw surgery to do away with an overbite that could have had BAD consequences for my teeth.   It was radical in that

TOTD: I got sick last year with a chronic illness so completely changed my eating habits and started taking supplements.

Finishing a quilt today and doing laundry.  The pool guy is suppose to come by and install a salt system and fix a leak we have somewhere around the pump.  He still isn't here, he better show up!  It snowed yesterday, the snow is still on the ground but I suspect it will only last a couple more hours.  Last week I think it even got up to the 80's and this week is snowed, that is Texas weather for ya.

When I got braces in my 30's my ortho suggested I have the jaw surgery too.  I couldn't get insurance to pay for it, I tried 3 times so I didn't have it done.  I have always been self-conscious of my chin (or lack there of).  Mainly my profile, I don't mind it so much from the front.  I spoke with a plastic surgeon the other day about getting a chin implant.  I think I just might do it.  How different do you feel you look after having your chin implant?

Acc my ex had a similar surgery...he had screws in his cheek bones...it was weird...lol

When I got braces in my 30's my ortho suggested I have the jaw surgery too.  I couldn't get insurance to pay for it, I tried 3 times so I didn't have it done.  I have always been self-conscious of my chin (or lack there of).  Mainly my profile, I don't mind it so much from the front.  I spoke with a plastic surgeon the other day about getting a chin implant.  I think I just might do it.  How different do you feel you look after having your chin implant?

Yeah, insurance typically won't pay for it, even if it's considered medical (like in my case).   Members of my family decided to help me (I was only 20 years old).   

I never really noticed my lack of chin (at that age, I was more worried about my teeth than my chin).  The oral surgeon did, and suggested that a titanium implant be put there.   I definitely do feel different, a LOT more confident, and my jaws have a more angular look.  As for the chin implant, there are some minor issues.  For one thing, that area is still a bit...numb, which is what the surgeon said might happen.  I touch it, and I feel some pressure, but not as much as the other areas on my face.

And now, I have an $80,000 set of jaws.      I strive to take care of my teeth, and continue to wear a retainer to keep the teeth straight maybe once a week.

I quickly learned that she's the one woman in the office that's ready to stab everyone in the back and the drama queen to boot.  In general I think she's upset because the two newest additions to the office, myself and the payables woman, don't go to lunch or gossip with her.  I don't tell her anything I don't want everyone to know about.  And frankly, I cannot afford to go out to eat at a restaurant every day at work.  We'll see what happens tomorrow.

Also, jty, didn't you recommend The Other Boleyn Girl?  I picked it up the other day, along with Murdered by Mumia.  I finished the Mumia book today, so I'll start on Boleyn Girl tonight or tomorrow.

Well, the 80 k was for the surgery and everything that was done with the jaws, not just the implant and plates/screws.   Alone, the chin implant being titanium, was $5K.   I had a medical condition (an overbite).  I wasn't doing it for merely cosmetic reasons (not insulting you in anyway, just trying to clarify the reasons for my surgery's cost).

Yeah I know.  I had a consultation with an oral surgeon about it approximately 7 years ago.  They were going to bring my lower jaw forward (I can't remember exactly how many millimeters), move my upper jaw back a tad and shave a little off the upper jaw to move it up a little.  Oh and also do a small implant.  It wasn't even half of the 80k you had to pay so I'm kind of curious what all they did to you.
