Oh my.

Now, I'm confused.

The last I heard, which admittedly was a long time ago, Mike Tyson was black.

Aren't the primitives violating one of their tabus, criticizing a black man?

Maybe Mike Tyson's not black any more?

Mike Tyson is "being detained" at LAX

The issue is battery and it involves a member of the paparazzi corps

Police: Boxer Mike Tyson detained at LAX

LOS ANGELES — Police say boxer Mike Tyson has been detained on suspicion of battery following an alleged altercation with a photographer at Los Angeles International Airport.

Airport police spokesman Sgt. Jim Holcomb says the incident happened about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday in Terminal 7 at a United Airlines ticket counter.

Holcomb says the photographer has accused Tyson of hitting him. The photographer fell to the ground and cut his forehead. He's being treated at a hospital.

Holcomb says both Tyson and the photographer want to press charges for misdemeanor battery. He says Tyson was compliant and cooperative with officers and is currently waiting in a holding cell at the airport.

3. Tyson's rep: "he acted in self-defense to protect his child."

"Tyson's rep says he was traveling with his 10-month old daughter when he was attacked by an overly aggressive paparazzi -- adding the boxer acted in self-defense to protect his child."

10. Now there is no love lost between me and Mike Tyson....but I'll give him a wee bit of leeway here. Remember...he recently lost a child tragically. That photographer had to be slightly "stoopid," or else looking for trouble and a lawsuit!?? Just my opinion

13. The "good" paps work in the shadow of the "bad" ones...

...I personally don't think there's anything wrong with making a living by selling celebrity photos. It wouldn't be my chosen career path, but hey...

However, there's the "Lady Di" end of the spectrum...We've seen these photographers get too close and too aggressive, too obnoxious...

...and he got too close to a guy who once said he wished he could step on your kids' testicles so they would feel his pain.

(Anyone remember THAT one?)...

4. The photographer may have invaded his personal space

You know anywhere Tyson can see you would be a zone I would stand clear of.

8. I saw Mike Tyson and his entourage at LAX a few years ago...

They were deplaning. I was waiting for a flight. I yelled "Hey Mikey!" in my best Mike Tyson voice and one of his entourage broke off, came to where I was sitting, and told me to stand up. I did. I was about two inches taller, and about 40 lbs heavier than he was. He said something over his shoulder, and then turned. When he realized that he was alone, he turned and hurried back to the group.

Yeah, right, like that really happened.

11. Hassling Tyson is like jumping in a bear cage.

He'll probably mess you up. Tyson and other celebs don't deserve to be stalked by cameras.

I tend to agree.  In the official primitive playbook, it clearly states that, based upon his race alone, Tyson can do no wrong, and any form of critism aimed his way is automatically racist.

This is the first situation in the last twenty years when I have to applaud Tyson. Those roving photogs are the scum of the earth.

Personally I regard the paparazzi as scum who should all be put on a worm-eaten scow and sent on a cruise to anywhere far enough away that it couldn't possibly get there.  The celebrity media that feeds them is toxic waste, it is to our culture what the Jerry Springer Show is to civil discourse.

Tyson's on probation for drug possession in AZ. This could send him back to prison.

If, and knowing the paparazzi, you gotta lean toward Mikey's version of events, he was defending his little girl's space from some overzealous prick wanting a photo op, I'm behind him on this one. I'd do the same damn thing! I'd have shoved the camera so far up his nether regions, suppositories wouldn't do any good!

Strange how they left off the part where the photographer got into his face for no reason and threw the first punch.  It was in the police report.  I guess that doesn't go along with him being a "thug" or making fun of him for being "reformed". :whatever:  I'm not a huge fan of Mr. Tyson but at least I can read.
