"WASHINGTON â€“ President Barack Obama does not plan to accept any of the Afghanistan war options presented by his national security team, pushing instead for revisions to clarify how and when U.S. troops would turn over responsibility to the Afghan government, a senior administration official said Wednesday.
That stance comes in the midst of forceful reservations about a possible troop buildup from the U.S. ambassador in Afghanistan, Karl Eikenberry, according to a second top administration official.
In strongly worded classified cables to Washington, Eikenberry said he had misgivings about sending in new troops while there are still so many questions about the leadership of Afghan President Hamid Karzai.
Obama is still close to announcing his revamped war strategy â€” most likely shortly after he returns from a trip to Asia that ends on Nov. 19.
But the president raised questions at a war council meeting Wednesday that could alter the dynamic of both how many additional troops are sent to Afghanistan and what the timeline would be for their presence in the war zone, according to the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss Obama's thinking." More specifically, he has no idea which of the choices he'd LIKE to take - abandon the troops in the field or cut and run like we all said he'd do during the campaign - is going to cost him the least in the polls.

HI,

Boy, I see this situation totally differently. First of all, the one and only consideration for BO is the political consequences. He could care less about our troops or the Afghans, his only concern is how this affects him politically. He his trying to constantly keep the radical of his base happy.

He is a weak man who is only interested in imlementing his communist agenda and could care less about anything else in the world.

I think he's just continuing his state and US Senate ways by NOT taking a stand or making any concrete and concise choices on any issue (except abortion)....

Especially any issue that would or could make him appear less like a god....

Only problem is you can't vote "present" when you are CIC and president....

I would go as far as to suggest he simply doesn`t want to take any political ownership of the war.
As soon as he moves in a way that differs radically from the policies of the previous Administration he accepts the consequences for them.

Much easier to always be campaigning against something then having to defend his own actions.
Lives are on the line and he would rather be complaining about what he inherited.

He is one sick sob.

I heard on one of the radio talk shows(can't remember which one) that he wants break-down reports from Afghanistan leaders by section before he can decide...aka micromanaging the boots on the ground and those in charge. This is a stalling technique. The man doesn't have a clue on what to do...this is what happens when you elect a community organizer to the Presidential office.

Is he suggesting his generals gave less than their absolute best estimates of the situation and how to deal with it?

If so he needs to replace those generals but that would him responsible for the consequences.

If he wants a new policy that the generals did not have to account for he should announce this new policy and go from there but I think he will keep asking for new plans until support drops low enough to give him the political cover he needs to withdraw.

TRANSLATION: Leaving American kids to die cold, tired and demoralized in the middle of nowhere while he games the polling data.

Can't say I'm too disappointed.

I for one have no urge to race-off to Afghanistan or anywhere else with this guy as CinC. I think my bunlets deserve better if I don't come home.

Has someone told Obama he can't vote present as the President? Has someone told Obama the President is there to make decisions...even difficult ones? Yes, Obama you will anger your left wing base by sending more troops, and yes Obama, you will anger those on the right if you don't send troops...pull your big boy pants up and decide.
