My Cub Scout makes me proud
« on: November 09, 2009, 11:17:55 PM »
Tonight his Bear pack was discussing the American flag.  In his scout manual, they listed the five major holidays for flying the flag: Flag Day, Independence Day, Memorial Day, Veterans' Day and Labor Day.  The scouts were not given the days, however, and had to think of them.  My son came up not only with Memorial Day, but when asked if he knew what the day was about, he gave the 100% correct answer very succinctly.  I was impressed and very proud that he knew that.  Gotta be doing something right.

Kudos to your boy! He should also be learning this year in scouts how to properly display, care for and fold the flag,as well as doing his first flag ceremony before the entire pack! :cheersmate:

One of the very real things that always stuck with me as a result of Scouting involved the courtesies, ceremonies, and respect shown to the U.S. flag.

Great stuff, jinx!  :cheersmate:

Already been learning that.  He's been to a day camp twice the last two Summers and he learned all about respect for the flag, including disposal of old flags.   ;)
