My 'lovely' morning at a church sponsored Health Fair:

:sarcasm:
A local church sponsored a Health Fair Saturday, offering free health screenings to all who attended.
The denomination isn't important.
It's a 'mainstream' denomination that professes a belief in the deity and teachings of Jesus Christ.

In the huge auditorium adjoining the sanctuary around two dozen various health care givers had set up booths. Hospitals, physicians, etc.

I had planned to get my PSA and cholesterol checked. Maybe a urinalysis and bone density scan. Whatever else looked appropriate. I'm a 68 year old male.

The PSA screening went smoothly. You have to fill out and sign a standard form plus address an envelope that they'll use to send you your results.
I chatted with the nurse while she drew my blood. Thanked her and the nearby hospital she represented for being there.

I moved on to the cholesterol booth. The 'forms' lady asked if I'd fasted since midnight. Damn. I forgot to.
I had a small fat free yogurt/fresh fruit smoothie about 3 hours ago. I told her. She called a nurse over.
The nurse said that probably wouldn't matter. My cholesterol level might measure a bit higher than it normally is, although if it was very high it meant I had high cholesterol.
I explained that I had been taking 40mg. Lipitor for several years.
OK, she was fine with that. Just be sure and explain to my doctor what I'd had to eat that morning when I showed her the results.
Fine.

I proceeded to sit at a table and fill out the form. Half way through I was interrupted by a middle aged woman.
"You can't take this test if you've eaten anything."
She wasn't smiling.
"Excuse me?"
"These tests cost us money. They aren't free. They're free to YOU, but WE have to pay for them."
"Maybe you should explain that to the nurse. She tells me the test will be valid."
"NO! You can't take this test."

I went back to the 'forms' lady, next to the screening nurses area, and threw the form down.
"The Church Lady here says I can't do this screening. Apparently she's someone in authority? I don't know."
I was angry and a bit embarrassed at being singled out in front of a group of strangers.
I turned and walked out of the place, fuming.

I'm still pissed.
Now I wish I hadn't lost my temper and stormed out.
I wish I'd stood my ground and asked the lady for her name and what position she held with the church or the health fair.
Woulda, coulda, shoulda.
:-(

I had assumed that the church was merely providing the space and that the health care professionals were donating their time.
I don't know and don't really care what financial arrangements there are between the church and these folks.
That's beside the point.
Free screenings were advertised and offered and that's what I went for.
What Would Jesus Say to the nice Church Lady?
:grr:

Ohh good lord what an idiot crying that the people footing the bill didn't want to waste the money on a test that would come back unreliable.
I'm sure if Obama was paying for it out of his stash the primitive could have had the test.

I may not lock my doors while sitting at a red light and a black man is near, but I sure as hell grab on tight to my wallet when any democrats are close by.

And I'm sure it knew this was a 'church member' right?  :lmao:

Cause we all know that church members staff the church when people vote too right?  :whatever:

The most I see church members doing at events like these where they likely provided the space free of charge(or not) is to set up tables with refreshments of some kind and direct people to the restrooms. If someone actively told him it could not be done, they were probably part of the staff with the healthfair; the fact they may have been a member of the church too is inconsequential. And the tests do cost someone money so I happen to agree with this lady. I wonder if this guy would fork the cash over for one if he knew his non-fasting would make his test that he paid for out of pocket unreliable. Somehow I think he would consider that a waste of his money.  :uhsure:

I seriously doubt the church pays for the tests, and if there were any truth in the encounter, it was not a "church lady" involved.   ::)

Just imagine if this were the DMV healthcare they're all lusting after.  I can't wait to see the reaction when the government starts turning them away.   :lmao:

The primitive was just bashing because it involves a church.

If it had been a health fair sponsored by a community college or hair salon, the primitive wouldn't have complained.

That's all it is.

First of all, the nurses would not be sharing any medical information about a patient with a "church lady". Nor would a church likely be paying for the tests. The medical offices were probably paying for the tests (they do send that stuff out you know), and just not charging the people at the fair. It seems pretty obvious that the "church lady" worked for the medical office that was providing the test. This whining DUmmy leech is a moron.

Trof rethought his position after he calmed down and realized it was probably a hospital supervisor, not a "church lady."  I have to commend him for circling back and reconsidering common sense.

Huh...and as part of my care, I too am regularly giving blood samples for blood sugar, cholesterol, and the like.  And even when I'M paying for it, if I haven't met the 12-hour fasting criteria, I'm told to come back the next day.

Go figure.

Damn. I forgot to.

This is another theme I've detected over these many months.  They're always forgetting to do stuff which is at the core of responsible living.  Whether it's getting some form filed on time, making a bank deposit, or keeping an appointment, whatever.  They're always just forgetting.

If they had let him take the test and his results came back wacky, inconclusive, wrong...he would have accused the church of medical malpractice and would be asking his fellow dummies for donations in his non-existent lawsuit.

This church was never going to win with this guy, no matter how nicely they treated him.

That's exactly it, madam.

If the health fair had been sponsored by a governmental or non-religious agency, with the same exact sequence of events, the primitive would've never thought to post this.

The primitive was just looking for a chance to bash a church, nothing more than that.

Sounds like he's backpeddling to, sir. Which leads me to believe that he may have in fact called and complained to the 'church' who promptly told him the church members and worship team were not involved in anyway except to offer up their place of worship to the health fair. He was likely told that the person he talked to worked for one of the sponsoring hospitals.  :evillaugh:

I'm surprised though he had the humility to come back and backpedel, although I'm sure he didn't say precisely what happened so as not to make himself look like a complete reactionary fool.  :evillaugh:

Since it's been proven time and time again that DUmmies lie all the time about everything I think it's safe to assume this is how it really went.

DUmmie was riding the bus to the food bank and when they were passing a Drugstore it noticed a free health fair sign. DUmbass started jerking on the stop rope and the bus pulled over at it's next stop down at the end of the block in front of the Church.....
