Yep.  Liberals pooh-poohed the idea that losing NJ and Virginia meant anything, oh, but when it comes to conservatives losing NY-23, well, they just can't crow about it enough:

Olbermann was also crowing about the GOP losing the NY-23 seat after 150 years or some such nonsense and how that reflects on Republicans.

Yep.  The 2009 elections were meaningless when it came to GOP wins, but so very, very meaningful when it came to a single GOP loss.

If the assholes in the RNC would have backed Hoffman from the beginning, I suspect he would have won that election.

More than likely.  And it didn't exactly help when the RINO candidate showed her true colors when she dropped out and endorsed the Democrat.  Who does that?
