Fox news.

DOES fox news need to be put to justice? Is it wrong for them to state their political beliefs on the news networks? Is it wrong for them to support men like Sean Hannity and Glenn Beck? Or are we too harsh by calling them Nazis? You decide ladies and gentlemen, and be as candid as possible.

1. They have the right to say whatever they want without government interference.

It's just that it calls itself "news". To that extent the 1st Amendment doesn't protect them from regular citizens calling them out on their lack of journalistic integrity. PRoblem is that nobody has much "journalistic integrity" these days.

2. They have the same First Amendment rights as anyone else.

They are entitled to state their opinions, as stupid and pernicious as they may be, and the government may not take action to shut them down. However, members of the Obama Administration (and anybody else) also have the right to call them out by pointing out that they are *entirely* an opinion network, and that they do not deliver objective news. And if we want to call them Nazis we have the right to do so. Whether that is too harsh or extreme is up for debate.

3. Stating their political beliefs is perfectly fine so long as these opinion programs are not presented as being "news."

But I suspect you knew that already.

As near as I can tell, there is no "news" as such on Fox.

4. No. They can call themeselves "news" if they want. But other media should be calling them out on that, if only to protect what little little validity they still have as news organizations.

The fact that all the corporate media is siding with **** just makes it imperative that the administration make that distinction clear.

They should not be "shut down." But neither should any Democrat nor administration official ever appear on that network.

Shutting them out is not the same as shutting them down.

7. regardless

That doesn't really count for shit, fox is the most widely watched news network mainly because most republicans can't understand the internet. All democrats are doing by NOT appearing is feeding their idea that the party is run by cowards. We end up in shit creek without a paddle regardless of what we do because a republican spin is a republican spin, but calling them NAZIS is a little too far in my book.

I'll bet the screwed up primitive is a mole, but he's woefully unskilled in getting the hoped-for primitive responses.  He probably would've done better posting this in "General Discussion," where all the hip, cool, trendy, with-it primitives hang out.

5. It's not "News". It's propaganda twisted to fit their agenda. All day long. They are protected by our Constitution and can say what they want, but we and the president can also criticize them for their false "news".

Indeed, we need more individuals like Special Keith Olbermann who speaks truth to power when he yells at the former president to "SHUT THE HELL UP!!!"

Because regular strength Statist propaganda provided by the rest of the MSM isn't enough right?

Oh and just to remind the lurkers about how left of center they truly are....eat your own words from the past:

Quote
Subject: What Planet Are You From?

Sir: I am not sure from where your delusions stem, but let's clear up a couple of things: Air America is not 'hate speech;' it's free speech, and small balance to the right-wing venom polluting the airwaves. NPR is highly-censored, 'right-wing lite' news. Rush Limbaugh really truly honestly IS a big fat idiot (and a liar to boot). Also, you may want to get your facts straight, if you want to consider yourself in any way a 'journalist.' There is NO 'form letter' on the Democratic Underground, demanding equal time for Air America on AFN, or on any other issue. Here at Democratic Underground, we pride ourselves on being sufficiently intelligent to write our own letters, in our own words, expressing our own thoughts. In other words, we are not merely 'dittoheads.' I am sorry to hear that you consider Air America's programming to be 'anti-military filth.' You must have a pretty loose standard for what you consider to be anti-military. You must surely despise the Bush administration's cutting of funding for VA hospitals; talk about anti-military filth! And from a deserter to boot. What a black mark in American history to have a Commander in Thief who ran from duty like George W. Bush did (not to mention Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld). Your writing sounds eerily like the hate-filled rants of Rush himself. Or are you simply another paid shill for the Bush administration, like 'journalist' James Guckert/Jeff Gannon? One last thought: if you really value the freedoms of our Constitution, you might want to take a look at the way Bush has violated his oath of office in his attempts to dismantle the First Amendment.

Sincerely Yours, Minnesota Grandmother for Truth ---------------------------------------------------------

While the majority of FNC viewers are conservative, they also enjoy a large share of liberals and a large share of independents. More liberals are probably watching FNC than are watching MSNBC or CNN.
