That is not a good trend. We need Hoffman.

apparently, there are some serious voting machine glitches in NY-23. Some votes may not be tallied 'til tomorrow.

From news-wires:

Quote
Liz Benjamin of the New York Daily News is reporting there are at least 10,226 paper ballots out for the 23rd Congressional District.

“Unless the margin of victory for either Democratic candidate Bill Owens or Conservative nominee Doug Hoffman is 8,000 to 9,000, we’re headed for a massive recount a la NY-20,” she writes tonight.

A St. Lawrence County Board of Elections official says there will be either partial or no results coming from certain communities Tuesday night.

Republican Department Head Deborah Pahler tells 7 News the scanners malfunctioned on the new election machines in the towns of Clare, Edwards and Rossie and possibly in Louisville, Waddington and the Potsdam Civic Center.

She said emergency ballots were placed in a lock box and impounded.

Pahler was unable to say how many ballots are involved or when they would be counted.

She said it was unlikely they would be counted Tuesday night.

Pahler said as many as ten districts are affected.

Meanwhile, Lewis County’s Republican Elections Commissioner Ann Nortz says three machines malfuntioned - one in New Bremen and two in West Turin.

The unknown number of ballots will be impounded.

It’s unclear when they will be counted.

Okay, this wasn't a good night for me, because I couldn't get on to any of the official election returns web-sites, and had to dash all around finding numbers.

So the head's spinning, and time to hit the sack.

Karl Rove says Hoffman is still likely to win in New York.

I suspect when I wake up in the morning, that particular election will be up in the air.
