capitalism: a love affair. a movie review...
« on: November 01, 2009, 06:53:45 AM »
i saw that this was available online tonight.  so i thought, what the hell.  let's see what all of the controversy is about.

it starts.  scenes of african-american bank robbers caught on security tapes over the opening credits...

ok, whatever. (racist, michael!)

a cute "roman empire movie" bit where he compares the fall of that civilization to our present day problems, as if this is our destiny.  pretty weak so far michael.

next a long scene where apparently some deadbeats are hold up in an apartment or a house and are confronted by police trying to talk with the deadbeats.  the cameras inside the house have everyone looking into camera saying "i am an american" as the police knock on the door.  yet none of these americans inside the dwelling ever gets up off of their ass to answer the door.

knock, knock, knock...  knock, knock, knock...  knock, knock, knock...  knock, knock, knock...  knock, knock, knock...  knock, knock, knock...  knock, knock, knock...  knock, knock, knock...

minutes go by.  no one answers the door.

eventually the police bust the door down.

*great shot of the door frame being busted open*

i'm sitting here thinking "why didn't they just answer the door?"  and then it occurred to me... because micheal moore's cameras were there.  they didn't want to answer the knocks...  they wanted the police to bust down the door and play their "deadbeat" card...  all hurting "americans" that they were and all...

at this point i turned the movie off.

5 minutes into it.  i could stomach no more of moore.

capitalism: a love affair.  two thumbs down.

don't waste the five minutes i did.  life is too short.
