Paper Roses (260 posts) Fri Oct-30-09 02:54 PMOriginal message Thoughts please. I would like to propose a new group and need at least 10 posters who think it is a good idea. I will then contact the powers that be and make the proposal.Summary:This group would combine ideas, helpful hints, answers to questions relating to "Around the House. (or any other title suitable). It would combine some of the everyday questions and how-to's, what would you do if's and other topics that we all face as we live our lives. We have the DIY group as well as Frugal but they are generally directed toward major household projects and are fairly quiet. I have had many times wondered where to put a general household post but there is no category. Any thought on how to establish a mission statement for this group would be appreciated.I hope I have made the purpose clear. Chime in if you would.Edited to add: this would not include Cooking and Baking. It could however, include tips about things like how to clean cast iron, what laundry soap is the best, how to catch mice in the house...general questions that have no category but relate in some way to our everyday lives.OR any of your ideas.

I like the idea but I'm stuck for a "mission statement." The best I can do for a title is Home Improvements...Progressive Housekeeping. Actually I like "Liberal Housekeeping" better but that's probably just because I'm an old Democrat.
Paper Roses (260 posts) Fri Oct-30-09 03:40 PMResponse to Reply #5 9. All of the above. When it is not a topic for C&B, DIY, Frugal. Whatever suits anyone's fancy that does not have an existing category and somehow related to the way we live in and around the house.Example: A few weeks ago, I posted in the C&B group about favorite dish soap. OK, not earth shattering but I do not have a dishwasher and I have allergies and rough hands. A lot of posters gave me good advice as to what to use. Some time ago, a good bit of information was exchanged in C&B(I think) about cleaning porcelain bath fixtures. I never heard of Barkeepers Friend. I now use it and the area of my tub that I thought was worn is now nice and shinny. I had a calcium build-up at the water line and Barkeepers Friend removed it. Saved me a fortune because I thought I'd have to have the tub re-glazed.

Our favorite was the lady who wrote in and said that when rain was forecasted she went out to her patio and turned the ashtrays over. Seriously, good idea. Did you contact the admins FIRST? I made that mistake once when I wanted to start a group, They want to be emailed BEFORE you post your request.
DUmmieMom (755 posts)What do I do about my kids coming home at 1AM with their BF and sleeping together and their drugs, the smell wakes me up.. he promised to finish school but he'll never get to 6th grade this way....Do Glade Plug-Ins mask pot smoke pretty well?
Reminds me of a friend's older brother that walked in his room one afternoon."Man, it smells like Lysol and pot in here. You need to do a better job."
Progressive Housekeeping? Is that like laying around on the couch criticizing others?
