Now there's a Schade pic I'd like to see!

Ok, so for real I got called down to HR for wearing low cut shirts.

This happened at my previous employer who was undergoing some serious cultural changes (corporate wannabe). What we had were the old school 40+ year old workers who knew the busines inside and out and the up and coming wet behind the ears rising stars (20-30 yearolds) were planning a coup by convincing management that the old schoolers were too old to think. We were embarking on the ERP project from hell by which our company would act like a real corporation... the only problem was the solution shareholders didn't agree on the solution.... but agreement be damned, upward and onward. It was a 40 million dollar softare project that eneded up being total vaporware

Why does this matter? I'll tell you why.

Management was systematically disposing of the company veterans because (1) the veterans possessed common sense and highlighted their incompetence (2) they cost too much.  They couldn't find any technical reasons to dispose of me, so they decided my breasts were too distracting. Nay, they did not call the young kind of chunky 20-something into HR to tell her that her camel toe was distracting... Nay... they picked on my breasts!

I voluntarily left the company over 2 years ago after 23 years of service.... I have never regretted that decision.

Even with your never having a regret with your decision, I'm so terribly sorry you left under such circumstances.   :(

Eeks, I won't even mention the lunacy of how much we spent with our SAP/Maximo implementation a few years ago!  Sigh... years later, and it's still a giant mess which has never lived up to it's potential.

Yeah, if you're smart, beautiful, and talented, you'll get the ax first in some jobs because you remind the management how they are not those things.

I do have to say, though that that story was a total sausage softener until the end.   :evillaugh:

And whatever shirts you want to wear around here is fine with us, Schade.

Or not wear.   :naughty:

Maximo?  Oh, how I wish we had that back.  We switched from that over to NAMS early this year.

Piece. Of. SHIT.

Love ya jinxie.

I should kind of finish the story, for clarity's sake. I was the whistle blower who helped stick a fork into this project. What was happening was the true status of the project was not being reported accurately by the unethical middle management to the upper management. My supervisor lost his job because he was one of the more outspoken critics, they said he sabotaged the project. He was a 35 year veteran of the company and a decorated Viet Nam vet. Obviously the latter is important at any rate, but is even more important because we were an aero defense company whose primary customer was the US military. He was fired and stripped of his health care and stock options.

It wasn't because of my alleged low cut shirts that caused me to quit (which was false, I was more of a sweater puppy kind of gal anyway), it was because I exposed some liars in middle management and was now wearing a target on my back. I looked for a job when job hunting was still ok and it all turned out great.

This is so true. Really, the corporate power structure mirrors politics or vice versa. Those that can do, those that can't manage, and 'manage' they do not very well at all.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle
