So why do these parks have to be so heavily staffed? Get rid of the goofy "interpretive programs" immediately, no problem. They're sheer moonbattery anyway. Open up the parking lot, have one guy take the entrance fee, and another guy/girl to wipe the bathrooms and let people commune with nature or whatever. Leave them the hell alone.
We have a park up here on Lake Ontario we were camping at. A retired co-worker had taken a job there. It was his job to ride around in his golf cart, chatting with people and yucking it up, and that was pretty much it. Seriously. He loved it, it was his dream retirement job, but what the hell are we paying for? The lifeguards there were total power-drunk Nazis, I could do without them either.
