Don't forget the Ozone Layer.  Spray deodorant and room freshener was supposed to kill it. :whatever:

One of my favorites was Alar used to make apples more attractive. After starting a cancer hysteria, leftists, including "60 Minutes" had to back off. Their final volley was to claim that although their data had been shown to be inconclusive, it hadn't been proven wrong. That conclusion sounds like a similar episode decades later: CBS's attack on President Bush's National Guard service.

Then there is the banning of DDT on unproven "science" which has resulted in the death of hundreds of thousands from malaria.

Indeed - Seems every 20 or so years a new doomsday scenario crops up -

I'd say every 3-5 years. How many different "flu" scares have we had in the last 4 years?

In the last 5 years we've had:
Global Warming
Bird Flu
Swine Flue
Energy crisis
Healthcare Crisis
Financial Crisis
Housing Crisis
Job Crisis
Credit Crisis
Fuel Crisis

I'm sure I'm missing a handful

The Shark Attack crisis, which President Bush diverted attention from by causing 9/11. :-)

That's a good one I had forgotten.

How about the seasonal crisis of razor blades in Halloween candy?

Did anyone catch Rush's show today?  I guess it was the 45th anniversary of a speech that Reagan gave for Barry Goldwater before the '64 election.  Rush played numerous clips, and President Reagan's remarks are as relevant now as they were then.
Excellent comment Ralph. He does stand the test of time doesn't he?

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

What the DUmmies really can't stand about Reagan was first of all President Reagan didn't go around apologizing for the USA like a certain democratic president is doing. Secondly he stood for freedom and a small role in Govt. Primitives believe that we need to apologize for all our evils and that govt should be in charge of everything. Reagan was not perfect by any means but he has to be the best POTUS in my lifetime. I was just a kid when he was at the helm but I do remember him making me feel that this country was a wonderful place even with all our faults.
I may not lock my doors while sitting at a red light and a black man is near, but I sure as hell grab on tight to my wallet when any democrats are close by.

They also hold him accountable for bringing "welfare queens' into the light of day.
