What up Sunday mofos?
« on: October 18, 2009, 06:14:34 AM »
Well I woke up at the bright and early hour of 330 am ::). Just couldn't sleep! I have already done 3 loads of laundry, filled my car with gas, drove to DD and got a coffee, and done a few other odd assorted chores so here I sit making the Sunday day thread at the now respectable hour of 7:09 am :uhsure:

I spent a good portion of yesterday working on my daughter's Halloween costume and I'm pretty pleased with the results considering I'm not using a pattern :-) I should be finished with the bottoms today and maybe even the top and then it's on to my other kid's outfit. WOOT. I may have time to make myself something the way I'm cranking this out!

I'm bored enough that I'm thinking of cracking open the can of paint that's been staring at me for the past few weeks and finishing painting my bedroom. WAit, I could go workout too. Hmmm..

Oh well, I'm done ranting! What do you peeps have going on today? What's for dinner? I made homemade chicken noodle soup last night with french bread. I took the last of the pork ribs out for tonight. Going to try and make up the last of the 'summery feeling' foods over the next week before they get forgotten about in the bottom of the freezer in favor of soups, chilis, roasts, etc.

Whew.I'm done :-) And think, I'm pumping coffee into myself right now. :hyper: :hyper:

It's amazing how little traffic is on the Spaulding/I-95 at 5 am on a Sunday morning.

Rain coming in now, snow/rain mix coming in tonight.  This one might turn into a Nor'easter.  I used to laugh when I first moved here, having lived in Colorado (I was in Denver for the blizzard of 1982) and other mountain states, hearing them in a near panic about the dreaded Nor'easter.

I laugh no longer.

Summer was never really here, fall was pitifully short, and we're moving right into winter.

Oh, and rumor control at work is in overdrive.  Will know more today as to whether or not we'll be extended, possibly through Thanksgiving.

Asshole boss texted me at 1:12 am this morning while I was in a dead sleep to inform me of the Yankees victory (I went to bed around 10 with the intent of waking up at my usual 4:30.)  Of course, today is his day off.  Revenge is being plotted.

We've got The Heiress' second birthday party today.  We were going to have it at one of the local parks here, but the weather is acting more like late autumn as opposed to early autumn.  Sixteen or so people in our apartment.  It's gonna be cramped.  Anyway, my in-laws are coming over in about 20 minutes.  They'll help us set up, and bring over their other two grandchildren (The Heiress' cousins) to keep TH occupied.  Then, I actually said, "Yeah, I can sing in the choir today," so I've got to be at church for 10:15 for a 11 AM Mass.  More as it goes on today.  I'm probably going to watch some football in the afternoon.

Damn cold-ass weather is here -- it was 35° this morning.  At least the heater works well on my old car.  One more day of work and then I get another day off.  I hate it when they mess with my schedule... it screws up my whole week.

Time to drag the electric radiators out of storage.

We're looking at 40 this morning.  That'll be the HIGH for the day.  Rain is already coming down, turning to snow this afternoon according to the latest.  Up where I live, it'll be sticking until tomorrow at least.

Still cold and yucky so far today, but I have hopes of seeing sunshine later today.   Driving to Morgantown again, to retrieve my daughter.  Mr Flame is staying home to wrangle the boy children and take one to a birthday party.

Let the youngest have a friend stay the night last night and they were up at 5:30. :badmood:

I spent last night watching Blue Collar TV and Ron White reruns.  The Ron White one was new to me... I laughed my ass off.

Woke up a while ago and we're idling here.  Went to see Mike Doughty play at a neat little club in Milwaukee near the campus last night and had a stone blast!  Got back in late. :-)

Why would you go out and buy a cup of coffee, when you could probably make a whole pot for the same cost and presumably less effort? I'm guessing there's a well-toned coffee boy behind the counter.

Cloudy..........40's wind screwing with my burner while boiling 25 pounnds of peanuts. 5 on the stove and 20 in the pot on burner.  Can't decide if I should get another 25 pounds as this will probably be the last week for green peanuts. :banghead:

Nope. DD here sells any size coffee for .99 and then you only need 4 of those punches to get a freebie(I use mine for the more expensive latte). As much as gets wasted when I used to make pots, I actually am saving money since I used to buy their ground anyway.  :banghead: :banghead: I've just given up having luck with a coffee pot. Everyone I've used in the last couple of years has sucked butt and I throw out whole pots of coffee and eventually creamer that doesn't get used up because the coffee sucks so bad! BTW, I did sit down and work out how much I spent on coffee and cream and splenda in one month. As long as I have them do the splenda, it comes out nearly even to be honest :-) Plus the staff usually throw me freebie cards or give me the coffee for free sometimes anyway now that they know me so I reckon, I'm not doing so bad.  :-)

BTW, there is no buff counter guy--this is Dunkin Donuts after all.  :p

I couldn't afford the gas if I went somewhere to buy a cup, since I've been known to drink 2 pots in a day.

Sundays.  Meh.

I have a ton of unused vacation time right now... three weeks by January 1st.  Not sure if I should use some of it before the end of the year or hang on to it and save it for 2010.

Have you tried building a bonfire in your office, perhaps in a rubbish bin, and roasting marshmallows?  If that doesn't work, s'mores usually do the trick.  How can you and your coworkers not cheer up over s'mores?

Sigh... sorry works been a bit frustrating as of late.

CH, I HATE YOU!! I haven't had boiled peanuts in a coon's age. Last time I ate any was after my mom made some. That was BEFORE 1975, when she passed away.

As for me, I tore down my entire network, cleaned and reorganized the office area. Still cluttered, but at least it's an organized clutter. I may take a pic tomorrow. I also hooked up my 5.1 surround sound. It doesn't work as well as it should, but it will after I get my replacement Audigy card. I need some extension cables for my rear speakers.
