How many DUers remember khephra ?

He was a pioneer.

It must be the anniversary of the khephra primitive's death.

I remember it well.

P-J Comix's most-excellent DUmmie FUnnies was pretty active that evening on freerepublic, when the khephra primitive's demise, out of the blue, happened.

His mother found him in the basement, drooped over the computer, still logged onto Skins's island.  The khephra primitive was a pretty big guy, circa 400 pounds, and apparently a blood clot had gotten loose in his leg and traveled up into a lung.

Since Skin's island was still on the computer, his mother asked the primitives what she should do, before she called 911.

160. I do, too. He was such a special DUer. I always looked for his posts, he brought
us information from around the country and around the world that I would have never seen or known about except for him. And during those especially dark days of *'s first term, it was soul-saving to see this information and know that it was out there. It helped me know I wasn't crazy.

Kephra, I never knew him as a person and yet his love for information and his merciless analysis of it. I knew his intellect, his priorities, and I knew his values.

In many ways, I knew him better than I know many of my friends.

Kephra, oh yes, I miss him and think of him often. With the financial meltdown, the 2008 election, Obama's election, the issues in Congress on health care, the war in Afghanistan (and Iraq), I've often wondered what it would've been like with Kephra keeping us informed.

Kephra, you made the world a better place. You made me better informed and thus, a better person.

82. Agreed. Him and Andy should be first

And perhaps those beloved posters like NewYawker99 who are still around, but not posting.

I knew the late red round one would come up.

Thing is, all such folks taught us to carry on the struggle and never give in...

Like all communities we need a way to remind ourselves of what they gave us

thanks for the reminder

I miss newyawker too

and a few other DUer pioneers who have transitioned.

You know, the late one was a primitive on Skins's island from almost the beginning.

The late red round one on the other hand was on Skins's island only a few months.

170. I agree. And that was forceful.

Then I heard about notstramja (I don't think this is right, but close), who I did communicate with, he died. Then Andy Stephenson, and I was a puddle.

The good DUers who left us too soon.

178. I remember his passing

It was fairly soon after I joined, so I didn't know him, especially since I almost never goto LBN.

I remember nostamj better because I always read the toon threads, and Sapphire Blue was on my buddy list when she passed, but nobody knew it for months. And Andy and alarcojon and 180. khephra was perhaps the most shocking because he had been young and seemingly healthy and then- bam! Whereas Andy and Sapphire had been sick for a while and 180 was one of the oldest DUers.

and I hope NewYawker99 is okay.

You know, it's pretty nauseaous, and utter bad taste, that every time a primitive lights a bonfire commemorating a late primitive, the Andyite primitives always bring the late red round one into it, as if the bonfire's meant to honor him.

Most of the late primitives commemorated by the still-living primitives were primitives of long standing on Skins's island, some years.

The late red round one was there only November 2004-June 2005, barely half a year, and half his posts being pleas for money.

kephra was impressive in his ability to crank out breaking news posts, but I wouldn't call him a pioneer. If the pioneers spent that much time sitting on their asses in front of a computer, America would still only have 13 states.

So do I--and you spelled his name right, unlike the DUmb**** who misspelled the other DUmb****'s name.

There's a lesson in that about eating your way up to 400 pounds and spending all your time in front of a computer in your mom's basement, but none of them seem to have noticed the forest around all those fat, ranting Leftist treetrunks.
