But there is an item at the Goodwill that, frankly, I don't think is worth the $20 they want for it. Can I make an offer? Do the people who work the floor have the power to grant a less expensive price on something.

FWIW, while not the item I had in mind, this particular Goodwill slapped a $100 price tag on a pram from circa 1950. While a very cool and kitschy vintage item, the thing was in horrendous shape and is not worth that kind of money, IMO....

Everybody's out to cheat them, according to the primitives.

Of course, that's projection among the primitives.

It doesn't surprise me, that a primitive would want to cheat a non-profit thrift store; I suspect primitives even shoplift stuff there.

I thought the whole purpose of buying at Goodwill was a charitable donation to help support retarded folks. Isn't it understood that the merchandise is mostly tossed out junk?

I shop at Goodwill sometimes because it's closer but Salvation Army is MUCH better, and cheaper. You have to sift through a lot more but I absolutely LOVE vintage clothing and Salvation Army is the best place to find it. Mine runs specials everyday. Different colored tags are either a dollar (sometimes 50 cents) for clothes and 75% off for miscellaneous stuff (housewares, etc.). I got a really cool leather motorcycle jacket and a black leather skirt for $1 each. I figure if I can't get it on discount day then I wasn't meant to have it. You can even call and ask what color tags are discounted. The telephone is an amazing modern invention.
