Resignation sought again

VALDOSTA — Southern Christian Leadership Conference and community members have once again requested the resignation of Valdosta City School System Superintendent Dr. Bill Cason.

Hundreds turned out for the Valdosta City School Board’s public forum Monday evening at S.L. Mason Elementary School’s gymnasium, with all but one speaker addressing the system’s decision not to show President Barack Obama’s speech on education on the day it aired.

Before the meeting, the Rev. Floyd Rose, president of the Valdosta-Lowndes County Chapter of the SCLC, passed out bumper stickers with the phrase “Cason must go.”

Rose was the first to address the board and Cason.

He stated that the SCLC did not expect the sons and daughters of slave masters to feel like the sons and daughters of slaves.

*snip*

“We have a created a culture of what is called the “Rightness of Whiteness,” Rose said. “A culture which breeds a false sense of superiority in whites, and develops a false sense of inferiority in blacks.”

This makes it easy for whites to believe that there is a white answer to every black question and a white solution to every black problem, he said. This in turn created the idea that whites knew what was best for blacks and blacks believed that whites knew what was best for them.

Why is it that when lefty, Ooooobama worshippers feel Teh Wun has been dissed, they just scream   :waisis:

Is that really all they have???  They can't even address his lack of accomplishments, experience, leadership, morals, etc...?

HI Folks,

Have any of you ever spent any time in that part of the country?  There is a certain segment of the population in that area that are likely fed up and will say "enough is enough!"  If that happens it is not going to be pretty.

I am not talking about KKK type folks, just hard working southerners who know right from wrong and treat all people with respect.  If any of you read any of Zell Miller's books you will get the idea.  There comes a point where they are going to be sick and tired of bending over backwards to support a system that steals from the rich to give to those who choose not to work.

Just read where Rangel said that Pelosi wants to implement the nuclear option on the health care bill.  Funny, on the way home from dinner tonight I was daydreaming that it is just a matter of time before the public boils over.  It could easily be sparked by this issue in GA.

Sorry I used to live there and what you say isn't the truth.  Valdosta/Lowndes county is now "Title Town USA" but I regress.............they will bend over after this.................just like when W. Disney came there to build a park............they will reject all  that seems common sense.

The people of Valdosta are about the most strange you can ever imagine.............shit all that was near a USAF base was two gas stations.................nothing else.

Hi,

I had family that lived down there and used to spend a lot of time there.  I will give you Titletown.  When Buck Balue was in 8th grade they redshirted him so he could lead the Valdosta high school football team to the state title, which indeed he did.  He also QB'd GA to the national championship with the help of Herschel Walker.

At the same time I am not going to argue with you because it would appear your experience is more recent than mine.  I knew a lot of "good old boys" down there and found that they changed, like the rest of America, in regard to the way they treated the black folks.  I could tell you some of the most caustic racial jokes I have ever heard in the 1970's  that came from folks in that area.  At the same time, over time they seemed to mellow a bit.  With that being said, you just do not push those folks too far without some pretty serious consequences.  That was the point I was trying to make.  If that part of the country has been "liberalized" I would be surprised because I do not think the voting results have reflected it.  Historically it has been Atlanta versus the rest of GA.

Thanks for the input,
