RIVIERA BEACH - A snake suspected of being a python is wanted by police for constricting residents' activities after being seen crossing a street in a Riviera Beach neighborhood. The alleged reptile, described as "python-like," was last seen at large sometime Monday morning in the vicinity of 300 West 23rd Street, a city spokeswoman said. With invasive pythons increasingly on the minds of rattled South Florida residents, police were making sure to get out the word."We sent police officers out into the neighborhood distributing fliers to make residents aware," city spokeswoman Rose Ann Brown said.Pythons are not poisonous but have been known to put the squeeze on their prey.Brown advised people to be vigilant and call authorities if approached by the snake, which is said to be unarmed.
